Okay, so we all know that Leeds approached Tours about signing Andy Delort, and according to French reports spoke to the player as well. I've been having a look across French football sites, and in particular had a read on the RC Lens club site as they were the only French team interested in signing him. So, let's have a look then.

Atletico Madrid and RC Lens were the first clubs in for the lad following his 24 goals in 36 games for Tours in Ligue 2, the French Championship. So in effect, he was the Ross McCormack of that division. Now, considering we sold Ross to Foolham in OUR division for the princely and massively over-inflated sum of £11m, Delort will no doubt command a fee as he has two years left on his current contract at Tours. The asking price? Five million Euros, that is what Tours are asking, and this eventually scuppered Madrid and Lens' interest in the lad. Lens made an offer of installments and deferred payments, but Tours rejected this, leaving only English clubs left in the hunt.

The clubs now after Delort, who has publicly stated that he has reached an agreement with an English club, are Leeds, Charlton, Brentford and ... yes, Foolham. Leicester seem to have dropped out of the race after initial interest. So, out of the four Championship clubs left, why the fcuk would a talented young striker want to sign for Charlton or Brentford? And ... they don't have the budget for a £4m-plus player. So Leeds or Foolham it seems is his destination, but with Cellino's latest "we don't want him" media statement, it is most likely he will end up with Foolham. I still don't get Cellino's public outbursts, it is not really productive to behave that way ... Viviani should be a reminder. And no, it's not a great tactic to "show them who's boss" and make them realise they can't take liberties ... if that's the case then just don't sign them, the public outbursts just tarnish our reputation with potential transfer targets and their agents.

Anyway, back to Delort. The lad seems like the real deal, and regardless of what division you play in, you still have to have the service from your team, along with the anticipation to get in the right areas and the ability to finish chances. Well, 24 goals in a season is no fluke. Sounds like the kind of striker we NEED not want. If this lad actually ends up at a no hope club like Charlton or Brentford, I for one will be gutted that we didn't try harder to get him. Then again, I doubt Cellino will lose any sleep over it, after all it's his way or the highway ....

Billy, I guess you missed the post I made earlier this evening on the Rumours thread. Italian journalist called out director of football tonight & released the following article. Last line is what you're interested in for this thread.

Sorenson looks on, but we're not after Delort

    http://labottegadelcalciofilo.com/20...en-and-delort/

Today a lot of names have been linked to Leeds in transfers window. The two main are Andy Delort, French striker from Tours, and Frederik Sorensen, Danish defender from Juventus.

I had a talk with Nicola Salerno, director of the club and asked him about them. Is answer has been very enigmatic, but clear:

“Not everything you read or listen about transfers is true – he said – For the time being we are taking a defender”
So, deal for Sorensen is completed?
“Tomorrow we will see. Last round”.

In the enigmatic language of the director it can mean that Sorensen is almost a Leeds player and the deal will be completed.
Delort seems to be not a target of Leeds.

I tweeted exact same thing earlier. If brentford and Charlton are the height of his ambitions he's not for us anyway. Lots more fish in the sea. According to the press, we've missed out on dozens of players but we still seem to ba assembling a decent team

I posted these this afternoon, as he said in his second tweet, fans read into it what they wanted to read, if you follow more of his tweets he stated we were never in for him in the first place.

Brentford and Charlton prob because they are London clubs, playing in the capital is a massive draw for players.
