So Trevor Francis thinks we shouldn't have added depth to a stretched squad and instead ploughed the £75m from Suarez into a top striker and hope he plays as well as Suarez and we don't pick up any injuries
He also said we had six international CBs which is too many. PS...we have nine; Skrtel, Agger, Toure, Sakho, Lovren, Coates, Ilori, Wisdom and Kelly. Not sure if ilori has a international cap, Wisdom hasn't but its still seven
Guess he's putting Kelly as a RB which is fair enough. Wisdom is on loan so doesn't count. But yeah, still leaves 7 CB's, 6 of which are Internationals.
Like this, apparently (I had no idea either; not even sure BR does...) please log in to view this image
We do need to offload some players now tbh. Kelly, Ilori, and Agger look most likely to go, or 2 out of those. Once these 2 Spanish FB's sign, Johnson may well go too if QPR open their wallet! We're still thin on the ground with keepers if Reina goes. However much I like Jones the man, he's not EPL quality imo. That leaves that big gaping hole in the squad for a striker. Lambert is not the answer, clearly. I thought he was much more mobile than he actually is! Without Studge, we're going to struggle. We need a top, top finisher.....we really need one or we may struggle to get top 4 if anything happens to Danny boy!!
funnily enough i was going to post a thread called "3 gaping holes" LFC's problem But i thought... nah..... it'd titillate you lads too much To me right full, left full and main line striker gaps in our first 11 mean we've a big ask to get 4th.... the reality is without suarez our press will go to pot and we look to be playing 4-5-1 not 4-3-3 without the ball. manquillo is not a first team option IMO.. moreno is a total unknown as the deal looked dead and NO option thus far bid on provides that striker option. yes 3 huge gaping holes.... cue zingy comments
My mate's back. We've got Moreno. We are also in discussion with a striker. I can't mention who yet (not Robben ) as it's too early in the process. He is an international and my mate rates him very highly. Not sure I do, but I actually don't know much about him. Watch this space. He does play in the EPL, but I can't confirm or deny any guesses.
I generally try to be positive when it comes to things. Encouraging. But my gut feeling is telling me Manquillo is going to be one of those Alberto, Assaidi style signings. Or worse a Cissokho. I hope I'm wrong though.
