Actually, this is a view shared by many fans and as such has a right to be aired. So many potential new users must be put off by the instant put-downs received for daring to have opinions like this. This thread is devoted to speculation. The only FACT in it all is that our board have conducted themselves, and subsequently our business, as rank amateurs. If I performed as they have done my business would be bankrupt. Now, let's sign some bloody strikers FFS so we can all stop arguing!
Whilst I am not disagreeing with the fact that we each are permitted to air our opinions, it is far from accurate to state our Board have acted as rank amateurs at this stage of the Transfer window. Quite literally we dont yet know how this has panned out, and to be fair to them I believe they have done well getting the inflated fees that we have recieved, I for one am certain they are going for some quality signings which can take time, particularly the 'domino effect' from the bigger club's deals...
@Billy (too hard to carry on quoting on a mobile) In my opinion, selling your Crown Jewels before having replacements agreed and in place, especially considering that astonishingly good scouting team we have (courtesy of Les Reed's interview) is rank amateur. That's especially true when you are negotiating really big fees and letting the whole football world know how flush you are.
And how do you know if we had a choice to wait? And how do you know we haven't already got some one lined up to replace the players gone. But their club want them to play one more game for them?(to try to get into the CL)
I know it was over two weeks ago, but we've spent close to £20m already. Yes, that clock ticks ever closer to the 1st game of the season but new signings are coming
It's happened now, it's all in the past. No point in going over how inept the board are, which to be fair to them they got top dollar for every player. Players were always going to go, yes some replacements could of been in sooner but it's not always that simple, think how long the Ramirez transfer dragged out 2 summers ago?
@Beef Well when they are our players and under contract, of course we can wait. If the buying clubs go after other targets, so what? As for my point about replacements, the fact is five have gone and only two have come in to a squad that was already light. Hardly having your new players lined up is it? Spurs spent the Bale money before they sold him. We should have done the same if we were always going to let these guys go. Anyway, I was really only having a pop (just a wee one) at this forum's lack of tolerance to posters who aren't necessarily full of the joys of spring, particularly as they make up a fair chunk of Saints fans right now.
HB I think there is also a certain lack of tolerance from certain posters (not yourself) about people who try and maintain a positive outlook on Saints at the moment! I am all for people expressing their views, whatever they are, but I would prefer it if disagreements didn't turn into personal attacks quite so often. I would remind everyone, neg-head, happy-clapper, and all shades in between, that personal insults are against the rules of the forum, and remember, that someone may feel insulted by something you write even if you yourself don't consider it offensive. This is a public forum and in theory the whole world can see what you have said (scary thought).
Agree, Spurs were widely praised for the way they handled the Bale transfer last summer and getting in their replacements before they sold him, but everyone knew he was going and you can hardly label any of the players signed as bargains. Fact is clubs stick a premium on players to premier league clubs anyway and I don't especially believe we will have to pay that much more because clubs know we've made a few quid this summer.

I am sure most of you are forgetting we almost went bust. This is the start of a new era takes time to build. Transfer window open till 31st August. Lots of players move once champions league situation clearer. As a first timer I thought saints web was full of doom merchants but some of posts on here are top class panic merchants.
