Is it possible for someone to be too ****, too washed-up and on too high a wage for even the ex-footballer retirement graveyard that is QPR?
Everton are apparently after Cleverley. Surely not the man is all show and no end product. Can't see Martinez wanting him.
The Bosnian chap they picked up is younger and once adapted to the PL will be better then Cleverly.. Surely a non-starter, unless he wants squad depth?
Being the best RB for England is like being the best bobsleigher in Jamaica! That's the point that I stopped defending him. Used to rate Glen really highly but he did that a lot under Woy and he's never recovered. He's getting worse by each passing game IMO. Please let it be true #betterthanbarry
I'd never go watch a film about the best RB in England though... although it would be amusing to watch them re-enact Glen getting busted for trying to steal a toilet seat!
He already has Barry, Barkley, McCarthy, Osman and Oviedo for midfield depth. I guess 2 or 3 of those will play at a time. Martinez hinted at playing Baines in midfield to.
Makes "any" move even less necessary... Unless he's trying to give a "Cleverly" a home, remember, they're not just for Christmas!
This bugs me. If you have a player that is one of the best in a set position, why move them elsewhere? Not only would that player become weaker in a unfamiliar position but it also vastly weakens the position he's been moved from. Just look at Germany and Lahm, they tried to get their best player (Lahm) more involved but it made them a weaker team because LB wasn't as strong and Lahm isn't as good at CM as other players they have.
Martinez' English isn't bad, but perhaps he thought Cleverley was an adjective and not a proper noun.
Lahm was playing RB for Germany. He also played in CM for Bayern several times last year, with some success. Everyone agreed that he was better at RB than CM for Germany in the cup though.
Maybe Tobes can confirm, but didn't Martinez take Baines to Germany, to see a Bayern game to show him what Lahm can do and what he wants him to do? Baines is decent but Lahm is a quality player, prob. one of the best players of his generation, esp. in the RB role, not sure he'd be as successful as Lahm in a switch to the central position, not that Lahm
To be fair... he must be expecting Barkley put in a transfer request to come to Liverpool at any time.
Thinking about it from a English perspective, Baines playing CM could be a good thing since we lack defensive minded CMs that can play a bit too.
lads it takes a bit more than being able to run up and dow nand donkey a ball at a tall lad to play CM. Baines... meh... oh and btw bayern and germany were not as good with lahm there. when he was forced back germeny took off and frnakly guardiola has set bayern back a lot.
