I was born and raised in Bristol. But all my family are from Blaenau Ffestiniog. My uncle told me when I was about five that he was drinking buddies with ian rush. I therefoe became a red. Later learnt of the motto 'youll never walk alone.' And it has become a mantra for me. Top message top club.

    ps. My uncle lied

Seriously though, it is interesting. Do you go back there? I don't really know a lot about the region except that it was disputed territory for a long time. Is it more stable now?

I have some distant relatives that live closer to the border of Indian administered Kashmir, the occasional exahange of fire still takes place from what I hear, but nothing too serious.. my "roots" are a good 100km's from the border, safe as houses there...
Other than my last trip last year (first time in a decade), I don't go back too often, no one left there (both sets of grand parents passed away), my old man goes back every now and then to maintain the "family" home <ok>

Also, there's a Led Zepplin song called Kashmir. Which was named after the region of which jonnybaws speaks of, but the lyrics actually had nothing to do with the place. Instead the song is about a long never ending road through the Moroccan desert. <ok>

Born in Toxteth. Dad was a red my grandad was a blue. Bit of a battle between them but me and my brother decided on the red side. Mainly to wind my grandad up. That was 50+ years ago. My Dad is 83 and still often refers to LFC as Liddlepool as he reckons Liddle was the best player he ever saw and carried the team in those days.

  17. There is a slight danger of this thread turning into yet another religious discussion...
