Rightly so for me. He has the potential to be a quality defender if given a run in the side in his correct position. I do think we need another CB though since Taylor is complete pants.

Caulker would have been a good choice. Don't see Shawcross leaving Stoke. MYM does look flavour of the week, none of the back 4 came out well yesterday, all very poor.

Newcastle United have completed the signing of Facundo Ferreyra from Shakhtar Donetsk.
The 23-year-old Argentine striker joins on a season-long loan, with an option to buy at the end of the campaign, and has joined up with Magpies' squad in Germany as they take part in this weekend's Schalke 04 Cup.

Ferreyra came through the ranks at Banfield in his homeland and spent four seasons in the first team before earning a switch to Vélez Sársfield in the summer of 2012.
An instant hit at Vélez, he was their top goalscorer and the league's joint leading marksman in his one and only season, netting 17 goals in just 24 games.
That attracted the attention of Shakhtar Donetsk, who signed Ferreyra in July 2013, and he represented the club in the Champions League and Europa League last term, scoring six times.
Ferreyra said: "I am very pleased to sign for Newcastle United.
"I like the Premier League and when I knew that Newcastle were interested in me, it was a very easy decision to make.
"I spoke to my friend Fabricio Coloccini, and when he told me about the Club, I didn't need to think twice."
Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew said: "Facundo is someone we know on a number of levels, including his friendship with Fabricio (Coloccini), and we think he could be a big success here at Newcastle.
"This is a player who has played at the top level and is highly-regarded in Argentina.
"He has tremendous potential and hopefully he can realise that here at Newcastle United."

Nice one. Feeling like we are going into the season fairly well prepared. I think some of the young lads should be given a bit more of a chance where possible. If some of them do alright we are not bad off for numbers. Could do with one of those CB's to come through. Of MYM starts to settle in a bit then we are probably alright. Our striking options are a bit of an unknown quantity but maybe they might come good.

By all accounts it's Blackpool who need to be signing a player or two.

I'd love to agree but he was pants at centre back too! Similar level to Saylor. He was bought as a utility defender so while centre half is his first position, he can play tight across the back and played a whole season at right back in France earning rave reviews (also had a spell at left back and holding midfield) He has just been so bad people are looking for ways to blame Pardew. Just hasn't performed and struggled here in reality. Even at centre back last year, he had more bad games than good.

I'm sorry I have no idea what you are talking about. I've just started watching the complete box set of ugly Betty. Some player you have here. By the time I've finished watching we might have been linked with another player. Exciting times.

There do seem to be increasing rumours that we a looking into signing Wickham. Sadly I think they all come from a Daily Mail article so it's highly likely to be untrue. It would be a satisfying transfer to make on so many levels.

I can't see Short/Poyet allowing Wickham to make that move. They'll sanction a sale because the tribunal will not be favourable (they haven't trained the lad remember or had him very long). I think a move to West Ham is more likely. Shame I really like Wickham, I know he hasn't shown much but I think he is about to come good.
