I know one supporter who wants the name changed if it keeps Assem Allams money in the club, I dont agree with him, but its a fact that he is not alone in that view. I go to games home and away and I don''t see total support for 1904 nor do I see a sea of CTWD scarfs aloft. I sit in the West Stand and there are people who tut when they hear "We say no". This isnt some lazy generalisation it a fact. How many times have you heard a chant or song start in the West Stand Upper? If you think that the fan base is united, that's cloud cuckoo land, its divided across many fronts. Where did I say that the West stand Upper are all name changers, what I am saying is that they don't all join in. How many actually cared enough to spend £2 on membership of CTWD? Are you telling me that the move from the east stand has not been the cause of any divide? I am not a supporter of Assem Allam or his plans for the clubs name, but for heavens sake stop being so blinkered.

This city has, until recently, lacked real drive and ambition when it come to promoting itself. Something that is often lamented on these very pages. Dr Allam tried a unique and innovative approach to raising much needed funds to support the continued growth of the club, and has been slammed for it. Sure we get mega millions from being in the premiership, but what is wrong with trying to increase revenue. Much has been made of him upsetting the 'Core Supporters' of the club, a total of about 15,000 customers (yes, customers) which isn't enough to sustain a premiership club. The idea to create a unique identity within the global Premiership brand could potentially have raised awareness of our club and increased our customer base, and sales, globally. With a higher global awareness, the advertising space on our shirts becomes more valuable, again increasing our income. If it had worked people would be commenting on his genius, much like when a managers tactical substitution works. I struggle to believe that someone would deliberately attempt to damage something they have invested so much of their own personal fortune into. I know it is in the form of loans, but if he ever wants his money back, he has to raise the clubs income. The popular claim is its to get back at the council, but I have never seen this on an official statement and assume its an easy answer that proved popular. I do think the handling of the name change has been poorly handled, and perhaps with more transparency and communication it would have been more widely accepted. This is nothing more than my opinion and I am happy to be proved wrong by any supporting facts anyone may have.
I would say that the majority of supporters who sat down and spoke with Assem Allam about the club would find him different to the perceived view. As OLM pointed out, he will be fine as long until you say that he is wrong. But the OP is not wrong in changing his mind, thats life.

CC, it is my firm belief that the relationship with the Hull City Council is at the centre of the name change issue. Whilst there may not be any official statement, the truth is that Assem Allam will not have any dealings publicly with HCC.

Do you really think he would be following the club if he didn't own it? Would he be watching us on a horrible Tuesday night away at Leyton Orient, and stand in the rain to see his beloved Hull City? He is not a passionate supporter he is an owner, and just like any owner he wants his property to be successful. He wants to build a legacy and be loved for how he helps the city, but is in no way a die-hard football fan.

I agree with you that the Obama Administration has become notorious for its lies and cover ups on the IRS scandal, Benghazi, Fast and Furious gun running operation, and most of all the Obamacare promises which have been exposed as a total deception. But you've got the network wrong. Its the far left MSNBC network, not Fox, which has been Obama's mouthpiece to promulgate these blatant lies which even the mainstream media are now exposing. The latest polls show that Obama's popularity is now the lowest of any post-war US President.
As one of about 45 who visited The Vetch Field (Swansea) at the age of 7 in Division 3 in '99, when the game was almost flooded off and Gary Brabin became a human log-flume, I'm annoyed with this. The days like Wembley and Trencin are incredible - but visiting places like Carlisle, Shrewsbury and Notts County will always be fond - as I spent them supporting Hull City. Didn't see Mr Allam stumping up his cash then - we were virtually bloody potless! Plus I thought Cyril the Swan would attack me - that guy is a psycho!
