Five or six, including the two loanees - as they were an unexpected 'bonus' thrown into the Ossie deal.
Suuuuure. Innocent mistake, totally weren't toying with our emotions. THESE TEARS WERE YOU BEEFY YOU CAUSED THESE TEARS

Guan pointing out that the transfer budget is going towards wages as well. i do remember Kreuger saying that. Should we add the wages we won't be paying to the players who left to the Total figure received this summer then? Mostly four year contracts at a million or two per year?
Doesn't sound like the wages saved are being added on, judging by Guan's figure...we've probably shaved off ~15-20m in wages/bonuses between the players sold/Osvaldo's loan. 70m yet to be spent probably means a remaining budget for transfer fees of 50m or thereabouts, maybe a little less.
Football transfers are taxed at standard rate of VAT, aren't they? Signing on fees and agent fees aren't cheap. I think we don't have quite as much money to play with as some might think. But still an awful lot.
SFC is a vatable business. any business related expenditure they will claim back the VAT. cash flow issue only, surely.
Maybe the wages we paid the guys we've sold is nowhere near what we intend to pay the incoming?? Chambers and Shaw weren't on megabucks, and Lovren wasn't on that much more.
I'd all but guarantee that the wages of the players departing equal or exceed those of the players coming in. Lallana, Lambert and Lovren were, I believe, our three highest-paid players, though Osvaldo might've been in that mix. Shaw had gotten a couple of improved deals, and thus was making a fair wedge himself.
Beefy, from your earlier post about CBs... Are you saying VvD was our main choice but no longer likely? Scrap this. You said De Vrij.... Bloody Dutch names!!
we'd pay VAT to the selling club but at the end of our VAT quarter we'd submit a return claiming that VAT back and either receive the money back from HMRC or simply keep a portion equal to that claim of the VAT we have collected on HMRC's behalf for selling all our players.
