Leeds has jumped ahead of Verona and Genoa in the race for Sorensen. Juventus is considering bringing back Daniele Rugani to the club to fill the gap left by Sorensen, at the moment this is just an idea but it could become concrete soon. Agreed. Think it will be a huge statement of intent. Would gfh or bates have used the Ross money to buy the stadium? Like hell they would
Purchasing the ground will be fantastic, you cannot get away from the fact it was already promised before he sold Ross though Cash from Ross McCormack sale provided bulk of cash McCormack was signed by Leeds’s fellow Championship club Fulham for £11m in July, providing a large chunk of the £16m fee Cellino believes is required to repurchase the stadium. BUT... It beats selling Ross for £11m and banking it all as Bates would have done so not disappointed
Would be massive to own the ground again and not have to pay rent, he said he would buy it back and looks as though he meant it
Quite right Ristac and hard to get away from the fact he is making sweeping changes. Of course they won't all work but at least he's trying. Long time since we've been able to say that
Shaks, he said, and I quote "when I heard that the legendary (mythical) club Leeds United were interested in signing me I had no hesitation in wanting to go there." I like him already
So Cellino's asset goes up in value thanks to player sales - he is a wise old sage Whether he uses it to buy the ground or pockets the money - same difference!!
When he took over he said he was going to buy the ground back that week, he later changed it to by November. He wanted to keep Ross, he wasn't going to sell him. I haven't a problem with how he runs the club he brought and like I said better than banking the Ross sale as Bates would have done. If I had a choice buy the ground back or use £11m on players it would be a close call but I think the ground purchase might just edge it for me.
For me it's the promise of buying the ground back having stated he wouldn't sell McCormack. I've no problem with him leaving, or the price we got, but why use the fee we got to buy the ground back? He had insinuated the ground would be repurchased with monies set aside for this, not by using funds from player sales.
He also said that he had money set aside for transfers before we sold Ross as he was not going to sell him. So using it to by the ground back makes sense if he already had a set amount to spend on players. Ether way its a good thing imo
I agree it's a good thing as at least we can see where the money's going for a change, but as for already having a set amount to spend on players we haven't actually spent any yet.
