It does not sound serious. But it does highlight a potential problem if we dont get another striker in.
Need a none if the above I'd still bid on benzema Also.... If the tour is over Monday evening injured players are far better off home and get the jet lag out of the way
nah... if i extend that logic everyone on earth who doesn't vote for one is saying they want none of them
Not good he keeps picking up these little niggles. Hopefully nothing too serious, but just shows we do need another quality CF who can really compete with Sturridge otherwise Lambert could well end up starting 15 or so league games this year.
Lambert is good at penalties though! He did have some nice head-downs though Yeah... we really need someone else. Sturridge is bound to miss a bunch of games. Trouble is- has to be someone good enough to be a real threat but at the same time- someone who is willing to be a sub for most games. That points towards us signing some young up and coming player.
Why? What's to say they don't come in and perform better than Sturridge and he has to then up his game? Or alternatively, someone that can play either out wide or centrally (Remy ) that way can fill in when Sturrigde is injured or play alongside him at top. Alternatively, we play 2 upfront again
Rodger's seems reluctant to bring in any ready made talent this window. He's more interested in building for the future- padding the squad with numbers. If we can truly bring in a player who will take 1st place starting from someone else that would be fantastic- but that doesn't appear to be what we're going for unfortunately. Rodgers is looking 2-3 years into the future instead of next year. With as much money already spent- I'm not optimistic to bring in a ready-made talent now. Who out of the new boys will be starting against Southampton for us in a few weeks when the season starts? Lovren probably. Lambert only if Studge is injured. All that money spent- and it's mostly for padding the squad.
Thats not just Rodgers way, its our owners way and clubs way and the way to build a long term sustainable future.
I agree mostly... but not completely. I think you need balance. The future is important... but you need to address concerns for today to prevent the future from abandoning you before the time is right. Southampton is always building for the future.
But our first 11 did very well last season. Depth cost us. We have signed Lallana and Lovren who are clearly big signings for now.
Although one of them left us. Can't remember his name... Louis Farrez- or something like that. Heard he was a bit of an arse though, so probably better without him!
Markovic (despite his age) is very much a now player. As is Lovren & Lallana. Can is for the future but could play a part in the now as well. I just don't get people saying we should sign someone who will be happy being back up to Sturridge. Sturridge although good, isn't Messi. he should never be an automatic choice just because of the past 1 and half seasons. We need someone who thinks they deserve to be ahead of Sturridge and provide him with real competition and who ever performs best gets to keep their place. If it means Sturridge drops to the bench now and then, so be it. He'll just have to work harder and show why he deserves to be in the team just like every other member of the squad.
I'd love someone who could bump their way into the first team... just don't believe it will happen- Surely we can't have much more money to spend- so it'll be more kids from here. Optimistic about Can and Marky... but don't expect either of them to be regular first team starters for at least first half of season. Lallana won't start first few months either! I'm half expecting him to be played out of position in a deeper role when he comes back... he'll disappoint in that position and become a sub after that... call me a pessimist.
