Just to get back on topic though, Newcastle is a much bigger club than QPR. I mean, it was never Santiago Munez's dream to play for QPR. Nor is London all that either. I lived there for a bit, and it was okay, but actually not as nice as North Tyneside. Sure there's more to do, but the actual day to day quality of life isn't as good. And it's not like most Londoners are at a new play or someshit every night.

Whats it like in New York? They got cars big as bars? They got rivers of gold? And when the wind blows right through you is it no place for the old?

Sorry no. There's none of that. Some quite nice beaches on Long Island though.

    That's me ruled out then!

I went to college in Atlanta, and was amazed how many New Yorkers had no intention of ever moving back to New York. They loved the place so long as they never had to live there again.

For the record commenting negatively about someone because they are foreign would be xenophobic rather than racist (people do seem to bandy 'racism' around without knowing what it actually means) so the comment "The standard northern response; bit of casual racism... and apparently I'm the c*nt?!" isn't correct - you meant to say they were being xenophobic. Perhaps the schooling down in London is simply terrible and only produces stupid people? (for the record that was an intentionally ironic example of regional discrimination).

ps. Actually would have liked to get Remy but for us I suspect it is the difference between the top half and bottom half of the table rather than anything worse.

It was an exchange year from Glasgow Uni, though I ended up prolonging my ties to the place by marrying a girl who I met at college there.

Over there it was far more. My ex's family spent well over $200K on her undergraduate and masters and when we went on to postgrad over here it was £6K a year for me and double that for her - and that was about 20 years ago.

Fair enough Indi, just skim-read most of these threads and hadn't noticed anyone point it out.

My comment wasn't a 'Ooh look at me', more a 'I agree'.

Just started or just finished? Reason I ask is I've just completed a PGCE (Primary) at Durham :)

Newcastle United have indeed contacted QPR for Loic Remy, but the situation is complicated.
