    and the spell is broken......

At least I never had to see it happen in a Saints shirt, I was convinced that England were going to get knocked out via a penalty shoot-out at the WC with Lambert missing the decider. Good job we were too crap for that to actually happen!

York is nice! York is nice<yikes> York is lovely...narrow lanes of old, overhanging houses. a complete city wall that you can walk round, tea shops every few feet (most with hidden gardens), a beautiful Minster, terrific museums including one with reconstructions of old streets, intriguing houses to visit, a meandering river (hosting a dragon race when I was there) and friendly people. Nice doesn't even come close.

I went when it was Rowntrees...forgot about that...didn't even know it was York. There are several chocolate shops in York today, so they must feel a connection to the stuff.

Been a right old carry on this.
Though as an old git I have some sympathy with India not wanting snicker, video etc used to confirm everything that happens on (and off?) the pitch. They are now realising how silly it's making them look as the only ones not to employ the more reliable aspects of the tech.

Devalues a win when tv highlights umpiring mistakes which enabled it, a real bugger when you lose due to not using it.

God knows what the ICC would do about a Suarez type incident, the Anderson thing was by most reported accounts some "jostling" as we would call it back in the day. Just leave it Trace, s'not worth it.

Can't say I'm a fan of the eight hours of driving though. After two hours of sleep.

Surprisingly no problems finding it at all. I was worried we'd make some wrong turns after the M1 but it was totally fine. Until it came to finding parking anyway.

Those Romans knew how to build roads...suspect parking wasn't a problem then.

I went out into a fairly upmarket area ladt night and found this cosy little bar.

Must've been the youngest people in there by about 15 years or so.

Table next to us ended up initiating an arm-wrestling contest and a woman challenged me. I decided the best course of action was to accept and to win. I did both. I feel like I enhanced mankind's existence last night and I just want you all to share in that with me.

(Yes I know, arm-wrestling in an upmarket bar - I blame the older generations)

If you didn't have your phone number on a little piece of paper in the palm of your hand during that arm wrestle, to be left with her, you are an amateur. If she was a similar age to the rest in the bar, you just missed the best chance you'll have of really becoming a man ;) Nothing beats being late teens or very early 20's and having an older woman show you the way. <whistle>
