I should really be calling him Emre tank, the man looks a beast. Anyway, been keeping a close eye on our new signings during pre-season, which hasn't been hard as they've all got injured or haven't got visas But I've been particularly impressed with Can. He looks to be exactly that DM we were crying out for last season.. Big and powerful, but more importantly composed in possession and comfortable on the ball, obviously isn't the finished article yet but I have confidence that Rodgers can craft him in to a excellent player. On the other hand, it is just pre-season and the games have been played at snails pace (even Coates has played well FFS) which could be suiting him more, we all know the PL is a different monster altogether. Anyway, what do you all think of him so far?
havent seen last nights game yet, but was good in previous game. see another eriksen in take a year to settle before see the best of him, but as he is supposed to be understudy to gerrard not too much of an issue just yet, signs look good though.
He's impressed considering it's only pre-season. I loved that little trick he pulled out the bag last night. Also in a previous game he got stuck right in, so clearly not afraid of the physical aspect of the game - saying that he's a big lad. But he's only had cameo's so far, hopefully in one of our next 2 games he'll get a full 90 mins. I can actually see him playing a more advanced role to start with, maybe Gerrard as the DM with Hendo and Can just in front - but who know's. All I know is he supposed to be comfortable in a number of positions, which is what Rodgers wants in his players. But yeah for 10mil - could be one of the bargains of the season.
Reckon he could be like Ford initially as in having a good few games then not turning up for a few. But once he gets used too the Prem will be a good player and may well fill Gerrards role of the past as a good box to box midfielder.
I would like to see his stamina tested first before making a call. In preseason its fits and starts and varying levels of opposition but thus far he looks quite a good talent. If he can deliver for 90 mins in the prem week in week out he will be a beast.
Very few players come from foreign leagues and hit the ground running as they have to up their fitness. There are always the exceptions like Toure (the City one obviously). Its different for players like Ince, Keane, Gerrard as they have developed within the British game and have gradually built up their fitness levels so by the time they are regular first teamers it is natural to them. Still think Can will be a good player and if he can do it for 90 mins will possibly be a great player for us.
Maybe he can or maybe he can't - I haven't seen enough to make a decision. Is he displaying any greater skill or scope than was expected? - again I have no way of knowing. Time will tell.
well playing in germany aint semi pro lads and cl too? its frenetic and direct in england but not more fit or more powerful cos frnakly the english clubs have been blown away at times by bayern.... leverkusen are another story mind. so for me its all about the step up to week in week out 90mins. at his age i'd be looking for it...
I agree. He could give us some good aggression further up the pitch. He is a very strong runner. I can see him filling Henderson's spot well if we ever need him to.
Too early to say. The same as it's too early for the media to start wetting themselves over united. You truly know preseason means **** all really when Sanogo scores 4 goals in one game ffs, the bambi even fell over during his celebration!
For me he looks more comfortble bursting forward - I initially thought he was just a DM. But I see him as a box to box, and to be fair we need another box to box as we have Gerrard and Lucas that can cover DM. So yeah he could be a like for like switch for Hendo. I predict good things for Jackie Chan
He gets compared to Sweignsteigher. In Germany they refer to him as a midfield tempo setter. That is what I'd call Joe Allen. I think Can has more to his game.
