You know what I meant. They don't have any real political influence in Spain. And I've never met a tourist who goes to Spain because they have a Royal Family (just like any tourists coming to Britain).

Regardless if it 2p, 63p or £2 I believe they are worth the money they bring in over £100m in profit for Britain and anyone who argues with that needs a health check.

So you are in favour of a Head of State with no accountability to the people of the country then?

My issue is not the cost to individual tax payers but the cost to the state as a whole. It is money that could be better spent on services that make a difference to peoples' lives.

so not like the conlibs who broke promises and did what they said they wouldnt

or blair who ignored the anti war demos and went in with his bumchum bush anyway

People who think we are a democracy are naive

a recent poll said 80% of people in britain want the death penalty reintroduced in certain cases, parliament refuses to discuss it as they have decided NO

    democracy? hypocracy more like

This argument is getting boring as it's all about opinions I believe that profit and the interest they generate outweigh the cost others do not fair enough nothing that can be said on here could change my mind.

who says they make a profit anyway? that obsessed ginger nut nicolas witchall off the bbc?

the amount they scrounge off us and the tens of millions in security, maintenance etc every year they arent worth it

to have such riches and live a life of lazy scrounging "ambassador" just because you're born in the right circumstances shouldnt be allowed or encouraged. i imagine the ****s get sweaty every night in their silk sheets at the thought of having everything they've done **** all to earn taken off them.

Are you really that retaded Stereo?
Many of the laws passed over the last decade or so are completely against democracy, like the 'terror laws', holding people without trial etc. yet they were still passed by parliament, helping to destroy over 1,000 years of freedom that we have enjoyed, all thanks to our royal family many centuries ago, our modern parliament cares little for these rights, but our queen should and should have the guts to say something about it, as no ****er else ever seems to stand up for what is right any more.

As for the 650 'elected' MPs where is the democracy in the Conservatives getting 36.1% of the vote yet get 47% of the seats in parliament, or Labour getting just 29% of the vote but getting about 40% of the seats, especially when the Liberal Democrats got 23% of the votes but only 9% of the seats.

Democracy in Britain is a fallacy and only the stupid or gullible accept it as even remotely fair.

At least in a democracy people can vote to replace a government they are not happy with. This is not the case in a monarchy. At the end of the day politicians are voted for by the people so they are accountable to those very people.

its actually a myth that the royals generate profit as in £'s. The figures when added take in the 'engagements' the royals attend as profit. But other countries manage it and security isnt as costly

I bet if someone had the guts to sit down and tot up every penny they would not be as 'profitable'
