"The accounts also reveal that Queen Elizabeth II took six million pounds out of a reserve fund to boost the amount she receives to cover the running of the royal household -- the highest sum she has ever taken from it." what.a.skank. as if she isnt rich enough to use her "own" (really our) money
maybe at first, but after a while, they would be less famous, it would only be architecture/history buffs coming to see them, not the wide range of people who visit them now because of their connections to the monarchy. we're used to it here, but abroad especially in the states, people are obsessed with the royal family.
how did these belong to them in the first place? they are ****ing germans, those estates are british. so technically they are hoarding our lands and costing us money the ****s
It's quite common knowledge they make us profit it's uneducated twats like yourself who have no clue what they actually do for this Island, yes nurses and teachers fairpoint but at least start of with the benefit scoungers, the drug dealers the bankers rather than a family which rings in profit tool.
how many get to see the queen? also see the potteries example The yanks are obsessed with anything british, they would still flock over here
Look at Diana, she questioned the monarchy system and ended up killed in a a "car accident" the year later.
Do you believe everything you're spoon fed son? Have you seen a list of the most visited countries in Europe? Spain and France are away ahead of us in getting tourist numbers but they got rid of their Royal families years ago. And well done on being a living cliche. A Rangers fan who's in favour of the Royal Family. Big ****ing surprise.
Democracy doesn't work properly, just look at the many billions per year the EU cost to run, or how much our parliaments cost (at least 10x what the royal family costs), do either of these institutions really give any benefit to our nation? What we really need, is for the queen to stand up to parliament once in a while and refuse to sign laws into being if they're clearly not in the interest of her subjects, like the laws on detaining people without trial, the laws would still pass, but at least some people may actually think about the consequences of their actions.

Yeah, that's democratic. ONE PERSON refusing to bring into law something that was debated on and voted on by 650 people.
