cant we just sell johnson, kelly, reina and coates, and get hummels ourselves lol. may have to add a few pennies as well, but we would have got rid of a lot of ****e, or ones who want out any way. i cant see anything in this any way to be honest, as if he was for sale other clubs would step in surely, or they just waiting to see if,when and what offer is accepted first? or is it another silly wages time at utd lol.
As bad as johnson is, I'm a bit uneasy about the idea of having two new young foreign relatively unproven fullbacks. I'd rather we signed Moreno and stuck with Flanno/johnson on the right.
The RB lad wouldn't be first choice, Flanno should be, he be there as backup. Moreno would also share with Enrique, who is going to have to recover fitness and game quality after such a long lay off
Let them borrow Ilori if they sell Reus to us. £20m for Hummels would be a real bargain imo.....perhaps we should go for both....we need a new CB
I wasn't too impressed with Hummels at the WC. Seemed to be very slow and only reason they weren't caught out more was because Neuer was so good at coming out to clean up behind him and his partner. In our team with Mig not doing the same I don't think we'd be able to play a high line as players would just find it so easy to run in behind.
If Toure and Agger both leave we may need Ilori, and this could bring Ilori's big moment. Coates is doing well in preseason though.
I thought Hummels established himself as a world class defender in the cup! The one game he missed, against Algeria, was the game where Neuer had to tidy up everything.
Think Hummels is quality, great in the air, very good in confined spaces when one on one, reads the game great but if you run at him with pace's he can be had, which is why, has others have said, Neuer's has had to play Sweeper Keeper a fair bit..
I agree he's not the quickest, was more surprised that IBWT wasn't impressed. To be fair, i think Neuer would play like that whoever's in front of him.
Maybe a bit harsh to say not impressed... I haven't seen a lot of him, but just felt that he's not quite a World Class defender as many people keep raving about as he seems easy to get at. Better than Skrtel though
Yeah, I think the system they play is set up for him to do it. In the first game of the WC they played such a ridiculously high line I was sure they were going to get caught out, but he was up to it. Still think it's only a matter of time though. I was impressed by Hummels, and I'd be amazed if he's going for £20mil.
