Apparently, he had a release clause of 8.5 million for clubs which finished in the top four last season. For others, the release clause was said to be upwards of £15 million. If QPR want to sell, and other clubs might be put off by the rumoured heart issue, then they might be willing to accept less than the second release clause whilst still demanding more than 8.5 million.

There are three different clauses for Remy which Harry gleefully revealed. We are at the higher end sadly :(

Sounds like it may have been Ferrayra instead if Remy:

    Chris Conway @ChrisConway · 11m

Alan Pardew's told @bbcnewcastle he doesn't think Loic Remy will come back to Tyneside this summer. More in sport bulls this afternoon #NUFC

    Chris Conway @ChrisConway · 9m

AP says Remy's had plenty of chances to come to #NUFC & although door is never fully closed on any transfer, thinks it's unlikely to happen.

We dont want to sell and why would we?!

He turned you down to join us when we are the bottom of the league mid-season so why would he join you now?? Sorry to say it but if i was a 27 year old millionaire i would pick London over Newcastle hands down. Neither club has a better trophy cabinet. One club has a bigger stadium but its in Newcastle!! The other one has a smaller stadium but it is in London....

He has already said that he wants to play in the champions league and he wants to win medals. That wont happen at Newcastle and it wont happen at QPR. If he stays with us then he is there for a year bangs in a load more goals then leaves for a low fee nest year. If he goes to you he's there for 2-3 years minimum. By then he's 30 and going no where.

Not his ideal choice he's staying at Rangers till January at least unless Arsenal or a top foreign team suddenly come back in for him

Lol you deluded fool. As if QPR are anywhere near the size of Newcastle. Second rate club punching above their weight, piss off back to the fizzy pop league where you belong.

You don't want to sell? I don't think you have much option. He won't want to stay at your ****hole of a club. Your post reeks of capital arrogance.

Sounds like this one is dead. No big deal but a good signing if we'd got him. We'll have to hope Ferrerya, Riviere, Cisse, Perez and Armstrong can do the business. Better than what we had last year that's for sure.

We also have SDJ who can play effectively in the hole.

If the clause is met 15m for smaller clubs like you then no we don't have a choice. Obviously I was just answering the previous posts.

No arrogance in my posts. Just a clear fact. London is a preferable place to live for a young rich bloke. No argument.

Play in front of a bigger crowd once every 2/3 weeks or live in London.... He's faced that choice once before...

    Now this is arrogance!!

Trophy cabinet there is no difference. You've got an extra 30k people in your ground but an overseas players preference for London counteracts the fairly insignificant difference

Yes, probably there's a bit more going on in London, if you want to live in a smog ridden, foreigner filled, unfriendly city. And yes, he's had the choice before, and chose Newcastle. And smaller clubs like you? Don't for one minute think your championship ****hole is a patch on us. Smarmy twat.

Overseas players don't always prefer london.. Just look at the players who've played for us, the Manchester clubs, Liverpool to name but a few.
QPR are one of many clubs in London and therefore will always struggle for support along with other clubs like Fulham, West Ham etc...

    You arrogant ****ing twat.

With apologies to the many southern supporters of Newcastle who use this board, but this ignorant dickhead is a prime example of why Londoners are seen as such ****s elsewhere in the country. Your football related points with regards to the length of contract might well have added to the debate if you had not used the post to spout forth insulting and ignorant comments about our city and our region.

Why is there always a small section of the support of these smaller clubs every year who use promotion as an opportunity to act like complete ****s. It was Hull last year - looks like it's QPR this year. Shame, as there are some very good QPR posters who will be tarred with the same ignorant brush as this **** if he keeps going.

Remy only signed for QPR in the first place because he was offered more money than what Newcastle were offering. It was nothing to do with geography. I'm not sure whether QPR actually need to get off him off their books because they offered him so much and they still need to reduce their wage bill. With FFP coming in, a club with the turnover of QPR should never have been offering 100k/week to anyone, but Redknapp seems to specialise in getting clubs to spend more than they have.

I get the impression Newcastle will pay QPR what they want but have been waiting on Remy to confirm he'd come back and take less than what his salary is at QPR. He's proved before he's motivated primarily by money so it's unlikely to happen and unless another decent club come in for him he'll end up staying at QPR.

Personally think our QPR friend is correct. We should finish ahead of QPR next year, whichever side he picks, but there's no other incentive for the lad, except maybe to get away from Harry Redknapp, and to be honest most of that seems to be newspaper bullshit.

Sure, we think Newcastle is the best city in England, but not many others do. Look at all the chaps that have buggered off for "lesser" clubs down South, and I include the likes of Jenas moving to Spurs in that, because at the time I'm sure we were above them.

Yes, yes, but the point is geography has nothing to do with Remy's decision. It is going to be entirely based on money, going by recent history at least. It's hardly like he has shown an overwhelming desire to stay at QPR because London is so wonderful is it? The guy has been trying to move all summer so it can't be that much of a pull. If he's there this season it's because nobody else is daft enough to pay him the same wage elsewhere. I think there would probably be a fair few Champions League clubs around Europe who would take him but it doesn't sound like he would take a pay cut.

And have there really been that many Newcastle players that have left us to go to 'lesser' clubs based on a geographical decision? A few that might not have come in the first place - John 'it's too far norf' Salako springs to mind, and his career went from strength to strength after opting for the mighty Coventry.

I'm not claiming to have any more insight into Remy's thought process than anybody else. You have good points, he has good points, but at the end of the day, you're both mostly clueless.

I'm thinking the likes of Damien Duff, Dyer, Milner, N'Zogbia, Beye, amongst others. Personally, although people would mention other factors, I'd suggest objectively they weren't moving to a bigger club than Newcastle United, or one with better career prospects!
