With one week to go til the season starts are we happy the current squad???? To be honest other than maybe a new keeper I think I am happy and am willing to give this young squad my 100% support! I think we will be up around the play offs and that excites me right now! This includes the fact I'm not counting Stek, Ruiz and Mitroglu as I think they will all leave soon. I could even live with losing Hugo's wages as well and still be happy Gk. - Jorenen, Bettenelli Right Back - Voser, Hoogland Left Back - Stafylidis, Amorebieta Centre Back - Hutchinson, Burgess, Burn, Bodurov Centre Mid- Parker, Tunnicliffe, Hyndman, Christenson Winger/ Att Mid - Roberts, Kaca, David, Eisfeld, Williams, Williams, Chihi Forwards - McCormack, Woodrow, Dembele, Rodellega, Taggert I m sure this squad will do ok and be in the top 10 somewhere I also think they will play decent football, I like the Diamond formation but my one hope is that we don't get on there backs when we go through rough patches. We will not walk the league and we will have bad spells our first ten fixtures are tough and I would be happy being 9th or 10th after them. Just wondering how everyone else is feeling???
I think we have a good set of players but maybe a little too young to spring back to the EPL at the first time of trying. If we don't sell anyone else we may have a better chance as, The Greek and The Scot up front would be the envy of our opponents this term! IMO
It has been another interesting summer for us. It is good to see that the club have addressed the issue of our aging squad, in all fairness a bit disappointed with the way that some have been dealt with but I guess business is business. Of the new players brought in, who knows. McCormack had a brilliant season last year and hopefully will recreate that form in a fulham shirt. Stafylidis looks a class act from the reviews I have read. As for the others, I confess, I know very little. The words coming out the club interviews suggest that Magath has a squad of players who are willing to put the graft in, so they will be prepared for the season ahead. They sound as though they are enjoying life with each other and the teams put out have a healthy balance of youth and experience. I think we will do really well in the championship. It may take a while for the team to bond and more significantly get used to life in a very competitive league. Any number of teams will be there or there abouts in the final weeks next year, as is the way of the championship and we will be one of them. I hope Felix has the knowledge and guile to give us the edge. Come on you whites
The youngsters have looked good pre season to and I'm hopeful they can step up this season though funnily enough the ones I expected to catch my eye haven't ( Roberts and Woodrow) but Christensen, Hyndman, Burgess and Dembele have all impressed!
Lots of changes I hope we do well. Not really names I'd hoped for feel we needed a bit more know how in this league. My predicdition remain Magath gone by Christmas - hope I'm proved wrong.
At the beginning of each season I tend to say the same thing. We need to perform well at home, win most of the games and make Craven Cottage a Fortress, where clubs think they don't have much of a chance. Also this season We need to stop giving away goals in the last 5/10 minutes of each half. Away we need to take wins at the weaker teams, and draws away from our rivals. We need to create partnerships in defense, midfield, and attack. Then we might have a chance of going back up. I wasn't convinced from what I saw last season from Magath. Big question this season can some of the youngsters step up and make a name for themselves ?
