Alex Arthur is a good ****.

Gomez's life is literally unbelievable. That night against Arthur is more about what Gomez could have been than what Arthur was.

Arthur was great, but he wasn't ready for that Michael Gomez...... But how could the matchmakers know that was what they were getting.

He fought this afternoon. Lost to an Aussie in a split decision. Didn't perform like he had in previous rounds tbh. Gets a Bronze medal.

Yer man Conlon won through to the final but finished the fight with a really bad cut on his forehead . Be surprised if he passes the medical to fight in the final tomorrow.

    Boxing is not a sport.

    Comparable to synchronised swimming.

Six home nations boxers guaranteed at least silver medals by reaching their respective finals.

Sadly for my good friend Aldo, Reece McFadden, the bloke he's been hanging a gold medal around the neck of all week won't be one of them, having found the competition too much for him in the semi final. Still, Bronze isn't too bad, is it?

The six home nations finalists are: Qais Afshaq (England), Michael Conlan (Northern Ireland), Josh Taylor (Scotland), Joe Joyce (England), Michaela Walsh (Northern Ireland) and Nicola Adams (England).

Three from England, two from Northern Ireland and one from Scotland.

There are two all UK finals, so the best we can hope for is four gold medals, but at least two are guaranteed.

I make no predictions (because I'm not that daft) for anybody, but may the best men (and woman) win. Good luck to all the boxers in their respective finals.

Michael Conlan (born 19 November 1991) is an Irish boxer from Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK. Representing Ireland, he won a bronze medal in the flyweight at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England. In 2013 he won Silver at the European Amateur Championship in Minsk, Belarus.

Conlan playing clever here by fighting for the nordies , chance of more medals that some of his irish team mates arent eligible for. Good luck to him if he gets the go ahead after that cut.

Representing NORTHERN Ireland, old chap. Pardon the correction, but I feel there's an important distinction to be made here.

The "other" Irish fellows opted out of the privilege to call themselves British by becoming a republic, which was their choice (fair enough) and so aren't represented. Two completely different countries who just happen to share an island.
