After Sku's thread, I started thinking What are your realistic expectations for the end of the season? I'm going with 3 categories: 1) with the current squad as is, 2) with a few additions 3) with additions, but without Temy and Adel My predictions are: 1) 17th 2) 13th 3) 18th I know it's early doors, as we're being linked with everyone but seemingly signing no one, but what does your guy tell you currently?
I for one hope we keep Temy. . I am a bit confussed. the squad as it includes Remy and adel. So is number 2 what will happen if we sell them both and just get a few extras in. If so i would say 1) 17th 2) 17th 3) 16th
Balls, a curse on fat fingers lol! No, 2 is if we make additions and keep Remy and Taarabt, 3 is if we make additions but sell Remy and Tarrabt. Sorry for being confusing - I wrote the post at work on my phone!
a) 19 b) 16 c) 17 I'm struggling to see 3 teams worse than us. Every one will write off Burnley who will play with no pressure and might just do enough. Southampton are more likely bottom than them. Leicester have great footie to build on. We're hoping that clubs with smaller budgets do badly enough. Palace? Swans?? (Wishful thinking!).
A lot of this depends on Remy staying and being motivated to play Leicester and Burnley haven't got a top class player to turn to in that regard, and both their squads have little Premiership experience. They'll find it tough. West Brom will be poor, Swansea look weaker, Sunderland haven't drastically improved their squad, Aston Villa still aren't great and Southampton are certainly significantly worse. If we can bag Leroy Fer, sign Sigorthorsson, get a handy winger on loan for the season (Serge Gnabry at Arsenal) then we'll pick up enough points this season to see us safe.
I'd take anything above 18th. 17th will do for me if offered now. What I'd like to have is a dull, meaningless last 5 games with us settled nicely in a safe spot. No more last-minute stress like we've had the past 4 years (Adelgate, Man City, Relegation, Playoffs).
1.) 20th with current squad we go straight down! just not enough numbers, If Austin gets injured we will only have Zamora. We also only have two central midfielders Barton and Henry. 2.) 16th hopefully 3.) 17th hopefully
We could be anywhere from 8th downwards IMO Belting season sorry but 8th in this league has always been possible The last ten games can jumble up any of the teams in the mix No I do not want 17th And no I wouldn't take it now I want growth and progression Harold has already said it will be tough What is the point if you dont aim high from one game to the next The theory of playing 5 at the back looks to be just that theory I have yet to see QPR play superb under Harold but I give him full credit for the manner in which we retain the ball Our home form will be vital and if we can get organised well as Harold has done or was it Stephen then our points total could be good therefore as normal I aim high
We have one striker and no real midfield, we will struggle to retain the ball and struggle to attack. 1. Relegation 2. Might survive depends on quality/type of midfielder signed 3. Relegation unless 2nd quality striker is signed and midfielders as above. If we see SWP getting game time - we are definitely going down.
DT, I think you're right, the top 7 are just about nailed on, but unless Harry performs some of his first season Tottenham magic, I think top half is pushing it! Offer me 17th right now, and I'd bite your hand off, but as someone said above, it'd be special to have a relaxing end to the season!
I would settle for 17 the but only if safe way before end of season. But I'm also with DT that we should aim high, 8th may be ambitious would be over moon anywhere 12 and above. personally I think we will finish 15th- no logic just a gut feel.
i dont see us in the bottom six i just dont..Villa,West Brom and stoke with west ham surviving by skin of their teeth
(1) 19th (2) 14th (3) 20th Those writing Southampton off beware. A mate of mine who is a Saints S/T holder says their youth team is better now than when many of the stars who have just been sold were in it, and they've four or five who will go straight into the 1st team squad, he's confident they'll finish mid-table if they bring in a few of Koeman's Dutch targets. I think the three promoted clubs plus West Brom, Sunderland and Villa are the likely bottom six...
