FFP, here we come. 5 players sold for £140m and squad more balanced. Business done in July. No preseason far-flung tour. Squad ready to go Great work, Jose. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/ar...ed-141m-selling-unwanted-players-Chelsea.html
I've seen some people still have the nerve to criticise too We have replaced all outgoing players with better ones who suit the way we're trying to play - and made a few million profit in the process. I hope Torres is now sold too.
Jose has confirmed Torres wont be sold. Squad looks done to me. Maybe if someone become available we'd move things around but Jose seems happy with what we have. Torres and Drogba as back up to Costa is better than what we had last year and Fabregas will be brilliant I'm sure.
Thats the main reason I am more or less happy with this window. Costa is a great talent and hopefully he will do well in the PL and be a beast. Torres is....well Torres...not gonna say any more about him. Hopefully Drogba still has some of that magic and can put in a similar shift for us as Eto'o did last season. But it seems adequate, just wish Lukaku was in Torres spot instead
I get the impression some people feel a need to associate Mourinho with anything positive and disassociate him with anything negative. Obviously he has a say in who goes but does he negotiate the fees? Almost certainly not. It doesn't strike me as too difficult to turn a profit when you've got a huge squad of good players playing out on loan who won't be missed.
He gets the praise for selling on players he didn't sign for a profit. Surely the praise should go to the managers who signed them at a good price? Will Mourinho get the blame when Torres is sold for the inevitable 35million loss?! Unlikely!
We would be lucky just to make a £35m loss to be honest. We signed a player who was 26 and regarded as one of the best strikers in Europe for an inflated price as it was from another English club. The player we sell/get rid of, will be a 32 year old, washed up crocked has been who will have scored around 25 goals in his last 150 games.
