According to Sky Italia, the Black Cats are now close to reaching an agreement with Lazio which would see the former Standard Liege youth product head to England. Cavanda was snapped up by Lazio from Standard Liege in 2007 and made his senior team breakthrough in Italy in 2009 in the Europa League. The defender has had loan spells with both Torino and Bari, and clocked up 19 appearances in Serie A for Lazio last term. Cavanda was also deployed in the Europa League, appearing seven times in Lazio's continental campaign. The Belgian's contract in the Italian capital is due to run until 2018.

The Spanish side have been keen to re-sign N’Diaye throughout the summer after he spent the second half of last season at the club who finished bottom of La Liga’s Primera Division. Betis were reported to have made a £1.5million offer for N’Diaye earlier this month, yet the Senegal international has remained on Wearside. But the Echo understands that there have been fresh talks between the two clubs this week. At this stage, Betis have not made a formal offer for N’Diaye, yet they are making enquiries into what fee Sunderland would accept for the 24-year-old and how the deal could be structured.
