It seems that we have received no offer for Bony as yet and Monk is keen on keeping Ki. Sounds good to me. http://www.southwales-eveningpost.co.uk/Welcome-Wilfried-Bony-Ki-Sung-Yueng-Swansea-City/story-21745526-detail/story.html
Id be absolutely crazy with joy if Bony stays , not sure he will be crazy with joy though but lets not debate opinions . Id rather a replacement for Ki though ,he might be bit of a7 loose cannon amongst our team caused by non confidence in his ability .Bringing Ki in for 5 million or so and seeing what happened to him since is just one huge head scratcher .
Wasn't Monk "keen on keeping" Michu and Hernandez? I'll be amazed but delighted if we keep both, but especially Bony.
It's really no miracle keeping Bony this summer. If he doesn't get an improved contract it'll be impossible to keep him through next summer...
Keeping Bony this year will be a bigger success than us keeping Michu last year. Of course it will be a miracle.
“I’ve said how important Ki is to us, what a good player I think he is, and what he can offer us.“Obviously his time at Swansea since he signed for us has not hit its full heights, for whatever reason, but for me he hasn’t seen the real Swansea. I’d like to show him that.“Ki was at the World Cup. We’d like to have got something sorted earlier, but that’s the way it’s gone. We’ll sit down over the next week or so and try and sort out a deal to keep Ki at the club.” - Garry Monk Is it just me? What the **** has Ki done to earn himself a new (and no doubt improved) contract with us? Why are we begging the guy? If Sunderland or Villa are willing to pay £4m+ for the bloke I would have taken it and reinvested it in someone like Nick Powell, Johnnie Williams or De Guzman.
Terror ... Because Ki was the club's acquisition not Laudrup's. Somebody has a boner for him and whoever that is is sticking by it. It must have been really aggravating to whoever that is that Ki went out on loan. This is not to put Ki down. I like him and think he has something of value to offer, but Terror makes an interesting point.
He is a cheaper option than De Guzman if valuations of players are to believed. JDG £8.8mill KI £4mil
Got to think about the Asian money coming into the club and marketing in that region which Ki is the front man for
Totally agree. I think deGuzman drifts in and out of games but he scores goals But Ki did very little in his season with us (in fact he was a pain in the **** and poor on the field) In Sunderland he gave the impression of making a difference but they only picked up points when he was injured Over 2 seasons Ki played 75 / scored 4 De Guzman played 93 / scored 15 He's going to have to sell a heck of a lot of shirt to make his return worthwhile.
Good to see Monk and Huw sort out Ki with a new contract after the way the inept Laudrup treated him!...........
Let's just hope there isn't an amount of games inserted into this contract as that was a ridiculous clause in his last contract. Glad he is staying though.
There has been some utter rubbish written about Laudrup but this takes the biscuit. 1) Ki's contract would not have been written by Laudrup 2) Ki was our most expensive player at £6 million+ until Bony 3) Ki failed to score for Swansea 4) Ki was often a none-entity in our games 5) Ki didn't seem able to tackle 6) Ki had no aerial presence 7) Ki was 'injured' at a time he wanted time off 8) Ki &/or his agent / wife / family were (in Korea) reporting he was less than happy in Swansea 9) Ki missed much of the end of Celtic's season 2012 10) Ki's 'injury' took him out at an important period for us but was OK to play in the League Cup final 2013 11) Ki missed the end of Sunderland's season at an important period 2014 12) Laudrup wanted him back in January but his loan agreement locked him in to Sunderland 13) Until Ki was injured Sunderland were pretty much certain relegation candidates 14) According to press no firm offer has been made to take him elsewhere and gossip report a fee of £4 million (see point 2) 15) Laudrup gave us first senior cup .... in over 100 years 16) Laudrup brought in players that fired the imagination across the globe 17) Laudrup took us to 9th in the Premier League in the same year 18) Laudrup was sacked when we were 12th in the league 19) Laudrup was sacked when we were in the Europa Cup knock out stage and still in the FA Cup 20) Laudrup had had to deal with up to 10 first team players out with injury Ki is not the messiah (at Celtic who wanted him out, at Swansea where he couldn't buy a decent performance and wanted out or at Sunderland who have not come back for him) and Laudrup wasn't inept but don't let facts get in the way of a rant.
I see you forget to mention that we were only 2 points from the relegation zone or the winless streaks under ML though
Typing while drinking is never a good idea ... the beer holding icon ... only nonsense results. Thanks for the post Bob ... saved me the trouble and much better than mine would have been.
You will eat your hats. Ki will be one of the main reasons for swansea to stay up this season. feel free to bookmark lol
