My son is in Africa at the moment, so our family holiday is restricted to a week in Dorset when he returns. Looking forward to it very much all the same.
Very much so! We did a bit of island hopping, Rhodos-Tilos-Nisyros-Rhodos. Tilos was very relaxing, only about 500 people live on the island and it is not yet exploited by tourists. Nisyros is more touristy (nearer to Kos) but very nice. Rhodos is a fascinating town, but stressful and crowded.
Earlier this year for a certain big birthday my husband took me to Italy, three days in Rome then by train to Naples and across on the ferry to Sorrento. Day trips to Capri and along the Amalfi coast. Rome was amazing but very busy and expensive, Sorrento, Capri and Amalfi Coast simply stunning, don't often return to holiday destinations as so many places in the world to see but Sorrento and Amalfi coast hope to return there one day. As for rest of the year, well our first year living in Cornwall and plenty of places yet to explore here.
My holiday this year is spending 3 days at 'The Beautiful days' festival, in Devon, probably off my head and dressed as Alex from A Clockwork Orange. Looking forward to seeing Dead Kennedys live, for the first time ever (Though wont be the same without Jello on vocals)
Tramore where else? Seriously, we haven't had a holiday for about 5 years now as the renovation/building of the house turned into a bottomless pit of cash, we are getting the driveway done this year and electric gates installed. Added to that we have a 15 year old dog that we simply can't put into kennels now, so we are a bit stuck.......but hay ho, with the weather we have been having why go anywhere when you can sit in the garden soaking up the sun and quaffing?
Already had my holiday for the year - a lovely relaxing week in Dorset in the middle of the Purbecks. Cliffs, hills, pubs, sea...all I really need from a holiday! If anyone is ever in Dorset I recommend the Square and Compass Pub in Worth Matravers. Good beer (and cider so I'm told) and a simple food menu...meat pasty or veggie pasty - all a short walk from the coast path.
I believe Col is going to some city in East Anglia of which he is particularly fond for his summer break; I can't remember its name...
Hmmm - probably about an hour away - not far as the crow flies but those country roads sure slow things down a bit. If you take a day out to Corfe Castle it might be worth a look. The Scott Arms in Kington has one of the best beer gardens I've ever seen...beautiful view over the hills and down on to Corfe Castle.
South Cornwall again for the Rhino's, Bumped into a Cornish separatist on the last day in Looe and it made the holiday, he was just so sincere he when claimed they could ceded from the union and defend the hills! I just hope this year their not being backed by the bloody Russians this year!
Currently reporting from Beaune, France. Then heading to Geneva. Have been out of the loop for a bit......quite a nice break to be fair. Hopefully signed a couple by the time I'm home .
Have you ever been to Morwellham Quay? It is an old copper mine and surrounding village on the River Tamar. Worth a visit if you like that sort of thing.
Now that sounds good mate, I like the sound of that, hope you have and I'm sure you will a great time.
