I think they've been fairly even handed, the Scots athletes who've won a medal get decent air time.

The BBC should devote air-time to all of the medalists, they are all from the Anglosphere.

As for these games being like a school sports day - almost a third of the world population is represented.

If it wasn't for the Nigels, then the stadiums would be half-full. I've been to Hampden twice now and I'd say it's 50/50 between Jock and Nigel.

Dan says that the Scots are passionately getting behind the English but I'd say that's the English getting behind them. I clapped and cheered as much for the English competitors as I did for the Kenyans or New Zealanders. (apart from Rutherford, the whole place was cheering for him)

All things considered though, I'm fair enjoying the atmosphere in Glasgow just now, bit of a pain in the arse getting to work this morning due to road closures etc but it's a price worth paying to see the city smiling again. These games have invigorated the city and compared to Delhi last time, the games have been a huge success.

Thank God for that - i was beginning to get quite worried. <laugh>

It is weird how these things seem to cheer half the host city up though. London during the Olympics was very strange as people were talking to each other and most people seemed quite happy. I was pleased when it got back to normal.

The Athletic crowd seem a lot less partisan than a football crowd and generally get behind the competitors. The 'big' names seem to get a big cheer too. The Kenyan, David Rudisha (800m WR holder) got a huge ovation even though he's not from a 'home' nation.

But yes, the city is bouncing just now. We had the R1 big weekend, we've got the MTV awards, the commonwealth games and don't forget the biggest event, the BBC SPOTY!!!

I wouldn't take the Irish-Ozzie's opinion with any seriousness. Just let him post funny pics with poor punctuation whilst he drinks 'grog' and shags pavements.
