Well, people dying of cancers doesn't seem fair either. So what if some go onto new owners, there are thousands that don't which are kept alive for the sake of principle. Total waste of money that could go elsewhere.
I am not a pet owner, not do I wish to be. This is not because I am anti pets, it is because I am a selfish git and couldn't give the time that certain pets would need. If a dog needed walking when I was at work, would it be fair to the dog to leave it in the house? What I will say though, is that, where there is a child who has some problem, whether it be physical or mental, a dog has often given the child more enjoyment than an adult - now tell me that's a waste of money. Maybe it's because some dogs can be more loyal and less judgmental than us humans at times, as has been shown on this forum many times.
Well debate aside if anyone would like to donate even £1 The address is [email protected] There's also a Facebook page if you want to see that too Also quite a few rescues have turned theirs and children's lives around. I can understand what people are saying about other organisations. I would also point out though how many charities have ceo's that are paid quite a lot or the ones who spend a fortune on TV ads or the ones who pay chuggers? No pressure if it's not your thing then pass or just send some somewhere else instead. Everyone has something close to their heart I love animals and don't like to see needless euthanasia. Going to ask about a tombola tomorrow so if that goes ahead at Cromer carnival come win some brilliant prizes and raise money that way. Not offended if people don't give it's personal choice I'd just rather they practiced what my mum used to say to me: If you've not got anything nice to say shut up. lol
It's too late for me to be bothering with this but just quickly: Just because there may be more worthwhile causes does not mean this is not a worthwhile cause in its own right. Dogs and animals in general do not have their own voice, and I, although I do not love animals any more than the next man, greatly value the work of people like Rich's friend who give animals a fair chance. Ricky Gervais is a big advocator of animal rights and has done great things with his public voice. You could be the most charitable person on Earth carrabuh, but I don't ever see you on here trying to make a difference. If it's helping the world become a better place, as it so clearly is, then leave it the **** alone.
The dogs in care by this centre go to foster homes not cages. In a home environment a dog can be assessed with other animals & children before rehoming Huge huge thanks to anyone who donates anything, every penny goes on the dogs. There's a gorgeous 6 month old husky called Bolt looking for a home, he's a real stunner
I don't see how it is making the world a better place, we have too many dogs in this country, its not saving extinct species or fragile eco systems. And I really don't see the relevance of Ricky Gervais over anbody elses opinion. He's probably saved a few thousand dogs in his time, he probably could of improved the lives of thousands of people instead.
So what have you ever done to make the world a better place, why must you belittle other people's attempts to do so. If everyone picked one thing close to their hearts to give a little something for, whether that's time, money or something else maybe just maybe the world wouldn't be the ****ty place that it is. It's easy to sit on your arse taking pot shots at other people's attempts to make the world a little less dark in their own way, where their skills are, it's another to get off your fat arse and do something. You've had your say, we've all got your opinion so why don't you now just shut the **** up and go back to moaning about ncfc because that's where your skills seem to lie. Some on here know a few details about me, I'm probably at 38 on the cusp of being disabled physically. I have a number of problems many of which stem from a very serious case of glandular fever which left me alone in hospital for 3 weeks. During that time my girlfriend left me, my parents were on holiday and couldn't get to me and I spent 3 weeks with no visitors wishing every day to die. I was left with the ****ty terms of "post viral fatigue" ME, "cfs" and Fibromyalgia. All of which basically means the medical world don't know what to do with you. Imagine the worst flu pain you've ever felt, now imagine that in your entire body every day for the rest of your life. That's my life. In recent years I've developed neurological problems such as muscle tremors/spasms, burning feet things like that which "might" be something like MS still waiting diagnosis on those, again no one knows what causes that either. I've been on about 8/9 different antidepressants which don't work, painkillers up to max dose of tramadol, and illicit fentanyl patches a friend gave me. I go to work every day, I take my children out every weekend and between I put a brave face on and sometimes cry into my pillow selfishly on occasion consider suicide. So that's my life OK, it's not much but it's mine OK, I've written this not to say look at poor little old me but just to stop and consider someone else's feelings. Yes I'm an animal lovers, I'm also a lover of most things it breaks my heart to heart about people the world over dying as I'm sure everyone else does and I donate to those charities. My point is my contribution to those is a drop in the ocean for the "big boys" every penny Lindsey gets makes a huge huge difference and it's something that I choose to do with my time and little energy. So please please if you don't agree, man up and walk away just this once, for me, today?
Excellent post HfM and sums up my feelings on the matter exactly. I'm a cat lover myself and got my present cat from a rescue centre on the outskirts of Norwich, but I've seen first hand the difference owning a dog has made to the lives of people both young and old!!!
wow. i found some of carrabuh's responses truly repulsive. i assume he gives money to these 'more worthy' causes? horrible story rich - not the only recent incident unfortunately. there was a similar case on hampstead heath the other week. i'd be happy to match munky's donation. it's not much but hopefully it'll help
Well, if contributing to Norfolk Wildlife Trust and the RSPB is a bad thing, then I'm a very bad person. But that doesn't mean I don't / won't support other charities, especially cancer support, given my recent history. Each to their own, keep an open mind and don't 'judge' unless you know the full set of criteria, would be a useful ethos to follow. Sorry to read your (ongoing ) saga of gloom Rich. Have you tried Wells and Sheringham carnival committees? Both carnivals take place before Cromer (leaving the best 'til last, obviously ) Good luck, and I'll keep my eyes peeled for your stand during Cromer carnival week and do what I can.
In my opinion we actually we have too many humans in this country and I can definitely see a case for advocating euthanasia on certain people on here to put them out of what appears to be a life of misery. Maybe they should bring a dog into their world and maybe they'd realise how much they give and what amazing company they are, I'd personally never be without a dog again. I've got a lot of time for what your Mum says Rich: "If you've not got anything nice to say shut up." If that was a rule on this forum I don't think we'd hear from Carrabuh again. I just don't get why anyone would take any opportunity they can to make themselves seem an arsehole, he has said before that in real life he's a nice guy, which he absolutely may well be, unfortunately that doesn't quite come across on here. Seriously, why bother?
Supers, can't reply to you as your mailbox is full. There's no website but a couple of FB pages There's a few Facebook pages General access, competitions fun etc https://www.facebook.com/groups/shamansfunpage/?fref=ts The main page is https://www.facebook.com/groups/shamanslegacy/?fref=ts Just to clarify, it's NOT a registered charity because having run one it's a total nightmare, you need a committee of a certain number, regular meetings, minutes, audited accounts filed with charities commission so that's why it's not but every penny goes on dog welfare, vet bills etc. Food is paid for by the fosterers so it's only essentials that the fund is used for.
Not being a dog lover as such, I wasn't going to bother posting on this thread but carrabuh's remarks absolutely took my breath away. I've never come across such a self opinionated, obnoxious arsehole in my life. His views on religion are extremely offensive as well and he belittles anyone who has a faith and belief in a greater God. Why he feels the need to be so arrogant and up himself is beyond me, does he not believe in 'live and let live?' I don't give much to charity myself, times are hard, but I do contribute a small amount from my wages every month I give what I can afford which regrettably isn't too significant.
A lot of the time I think Animals are far more worthy of our charity than humans. We're ruining this planet with our greed and numbers and Carrabuh's attitude just re-affirms that belief. I'm genuinely shocked that someone could be so callous and hurtful, especially after Rich had stated that if you're not interested then just pass on by.
Carrabuh, can i just say that i always thought that you were hard done by on this board with some of your opinions, but after the vile bordering on evil view points today i can see why you get the **** you do. I can safely say that you come across as the biggest ****ish twat of highest order after today. Rich, please don't take this idiots comment to heart. I hope you have so much success for a very very worthwhile cause. Norwich Mods, I know what you have said in the past about me abusing norwich posters, I hope you can understand the situation and I apologise to you and every other norwich member for this post.
My wifes a Vet Nurse so in the eyes of some on this board she is probably totally worthless but Im extremely proud of her and what she does. Im sorry to read about the original events in this post and can only imagine who dificult it must be for someone to lose someone in such a horrible way - it just doesnt bear thinking about. I know animals arent everyones cup of tea but its amazing the hell some of them can go through due to us humans and all they want once that period of their life is over is love from someone else. Not revenge, not hatred but just someone for companionship. When one of them attacks or makes people afraid - why is it? YEP because us humans have decided to make them that way. I dont think an evil dog exists but there a plenty of dispicable humans around. I have joined their facebook page and will keep an eye out for ways we may be able to help. It wont be earth shattering but SOME appreciate any little help that comes there way. Pity some on this thread couldnt react in such a way.
Thanks guys, Guru I know me and you have had words in the past but imho you are a sound bloke along with nearly everyone on here too to be fair. There's just a few who don't act like they do in the real world for whatever reason.
