Season loan with a view to permanent suggests to me, as others are saying, that he is being brought in to help Targett along, and that we're aware he hasn't exactly taken the PL by storm so far but he has an opportunity to up his game and win himself a new deal. I'm OK with that. We've taken that approach with others before and it's paid off- was Jos one?
Bertrand: “This is another chance to play and a chance to join a fantastic club that’s moving in the right direction.” #SaintRyan he has a sense of humour at least
Cork was poor for us, but came back better. A loanee playing for a move has an incentive to work hard.
Not disappointed, just two observations: 1. He's not as fat as Luke Shaw. 2. Came through with Jack Cork at Chelsea.
You know more about Targett than me. I saw the video clip form Belgium friendlies and I thought he looked very good on the ball and useful passes in behind the full backs. Could he start the season Beef? (Of maybe WBA game?) Also, weren't Liverpool after Bertrand last season? I'm still hopeful he can do a job for us.
I would assume this move was to not block Matt Targett's move into the first team. They can compete with each other. I'm happy enough with the signing though, hopefully a point to prove after being out on loan so many times and Koeman can get the best out of him.
I don't hate this signing. I certainly don't love it but I don't hate it. Also, they like to share the statements and media duties around don't they? Monday - Reed comments on Chambers leaving Tuesday - Krueger says Rodriguez and Schneiderlin aren't for sale Wednesday - Rogers comments on Bertrand signing Hofstetter tomorrow I assume. Wonder what he'll have to say?

"The club now has a difficult financial situation and has had to terminate the loan of Ryan Bertrand"
