2 years since our last cup- and your calling our trophy room dusty? How long was it for you since your last one prior to a few months ago?
None of our three clubs have done spectaculary well this century but Trophies THIS century. Liverpool FA Cup: 2001, 2006 League Cup: 2001, 2003, 2012 Champions League 2005 UEFA Cup: 2001 UEFA Super Cup: 2001, 2005 Arsenal Prem: 2002, 2003 FA Cup: 2002, 2003, 2005, 2014 Everton: MLS All-Star Game Winners: (1)– 2009
Surely the league cup just gets put on someone's mantle piece? Not worth opening up the trophy cabinet for the youth cup P.s. I'd take our one fa cup in 8 years over your one league cup in 8 years every day of the week
Last ten years has been done above and twenty years makes it: Liverpool - 2 fa cups, 4 league cups, 1 cl, 1 uefa cup Arsenal - 5 fa cups, 3 league titles I also wouldn't include the super cups or it's worth throwing in the charity shield...
I'd say the Super Cup is the smallest of the trophies I've included by far (other than Everton's token allowed trophy)... but bigger than Charity Shields... For the record- we've both won two Charity shields this century for anyone who cares...
From about 97-2006 was the really good times for arsenal in recent history, then the trophies dried up. Luckily we managed to stay in the top four and also get to a handful of cup finals during our doubt before our latest fa cup win. 2000s started really well for Liverpool as well but somewhere along the line it fell off a cliff!
Plus we won the two leading up to the turn of the century, so in the last twenty years we've each won 4 super cup style competitions!
Comparing on a decade by decade basis I'd say arsenal did far better than Liverpool in the 90s, the 00s have been fairly even overall on trophies won (3 fa cups, 2 leagues vs 2 fa cups, 2 league cups, 1 cl, 1 uefa) but I'd give it to arsenal based on higher league finishes than Liverpool in general over that time period. So far for the 10s arsenal lead with an fa cup trumping a league cup. Hopefully this is our decade
Neither club has really won as much as would be expected though if you where asked ten years ago how the two clubs would progress!
I'm optimistic for Liverpool. I'm not projecting the domination we had in the 60s, 70s and 80s... but I think we're on the right track again now. Still can't see a league title anytime soon though. We started out the century brightly after a poor 90's decade... then we had the whole Hicks & Gillett fiasco that affected us on and off the field. We lost too many good players and missed out on all the good targets we had.
They go in a special cabinet with the emirates cup. Players like bendtner who arent allowed near the real trophies get to have lunch next to it.
We missed out by only two points barely two months ago. I won't believe it til we're over the line, and we may indeed have difficulty repeating that feat, but that suggests that its not as impossible as it looked, say, this time last year.
nah arsneal in phackt were beaten by rafa LFc regularly in the league. arsenal get the pretty vote... lfc get the success trophy... 1990s were 1990 league lfc, arsenal year after.. then 1992 fa cup lfc, then 1993 fa cup arsenal then 1993 league cup arsenal (cup double) 1996 league cup LFC... then double for arsenal in 1998... so I would say untill wenger came in it was pretty even... amazing first year for wenger nthen nowt till 2002 If I were serious however LFC have had historic mismanagement all rooted in David moores so now that OVER.... well we'll see what's what with both clubs.... Arnseal look hot to go this season coming IF they get a forward in and so do LFC. frnakly i can see the same top 4 as last year unless utd get serious and buy about 5 players... 3-5-2 is actually 5-2-3 cos mata won't track and playing rafale and shaw as wing abcks will be interesting. I can see a lot of trouble with utd midfield being bossed about and them finding 0-0 doesn't collect the points... thats going to be fascinating to see how it goes. I honestly think the club who gets the best stirker in between now and aug 31 will finish higher... lfc need one and so do arsenal.... arsenal could win the whole thing with benzema.
I don't understand why we don't have the Emirates cups on the sides of the stadium with the other trophies
