How? Not embarrassed...people just giving their opinion. Saints' fans know these players better than fans of other clubs.

Theo's potential as a striker; not realised. He's stuck out on the wing.

A O-C's potential as a midfielder; not realised. Same reason.

You might disagree but I think a lot of Saints fans feel they haven't lived up to the potential they had shown. And we're not expecting all our youngsters to turn into Bale as he exceeded expectations.

Interesting thread putting aside my dislike for our mercenaries I am fascinated to see how lallana actually does. I have never quite worked out how good he is and this season will tell me. I suspect he is not quite good enough but we will see.

Don't want to sound cheeky, but all the players you had if they were good enough you should have finished 4th or 5th. And what is your owner doing ?, I would be frigging mad if we even sold Johnson (SAFC) , but you have a hellava rebuilding job to get done in 2 weeks !.

Dont know how anyone can say Walcott hasn't realised his potential or isn't very much realising it at the moment.

He has some of the best stats for a wide player for goals and assists over the last 3-4 seasons including the season before this where he had almost the same goals and assists stats as bale.

He is a key player for a cl team, plays week in week out whenever fit as a wing forward (his role is often more striker than winger) and has performed against some of the best teams in the world.

I think he's likely to play more centrally over the next few years but he is already a top player.

You're discounting the fact that bar Lambert and Lallabia all these players are very young and with high ceilings of potential. Had they all stayed and had they grown as a team, certainly top 6 was attainable.

There is a lot of sour grapes creeping in here with a lot of anger towards the players who have moved to Bigger clubs, Why??? should not your anger go towards the chairman for letting Southampton down and letting every player go at the same time instead of just one or two and keep the rest if under contract to progress. It makes you wonder if the chairman cares or understand what football is about...

Had the misfortune to watch the Utd game last night, Shaw looked like a little lost boy. Did not know whether to stick or twist, spent most of the game around the halfway line. Zaha moved to the left and actually looked dangerous

That's one way of looking at it. Another way is to say he's a squad player in a team that's consistently fallen short in the CL.

I am well aware of what has gone on at southampton, you cant miss the comments in the media that are saying the same as me and some even going further and saying relegation looks on the cards because of the way your chairman is acting....

I think our first 11 was top 7 or maybe top 6 quality (better 11 than Tottenham, maybe Everton too), but our depth was poor.

On sky sports just now: injured Luke Shaw to be out for first four weeks!

    Money well spent!

    Edit: wrong thread, sorry.
