Because them conceding goals wasn't solely his fault, was it? It was a combination of factors.

It came across that he was a **** player because he played for a team that got relegated. But I don't understand that logic, when Davies was playing in the division Fulham have just been relegated to and he turned out fine.

I think the possible hangeland arrival may be Bruce just covering his bases just incase someone comes in with a big bid for Curtis? 10mil would be the figure when you'd have to look at it!

Hangeland is a **** version of Mertesacker, if we sign him and he turns out to be good then I'll hold my hands up and admit I was wrong, I don't want us to sign him though.

No, It's probably to cover the additional games we'll play and the loss of Faye. I am concerned that we are looking at Hangeland - as for 2 seasons at least he has looked ****. He's also looked right at home in a relegation threatened teams back 4, that has conceded a **** load of goals. Considering we've tried for Dawson and Lescott - this seems more out of desperation. Maguire was heavily linked whilst we were bidding for Lescott and Dawson, so I think we're just seeing the number of centre halves in that Bruce wanted, unfortunately probably not the quality.

Firstly we are short of a centre back, as SB likes to play 3 at the back in certain games, this is the reason for his interest now in Hangeland. Secondly Hangeland is not a bad player, he was playing in a ****e Fulham defence, so I don't think you can judge him fully on last season. Playing alongside Chezzy and Davies, I think you will see a much better player.

No, he came across as a poor player because he didn't play well.

Your last sentence makes zero sense in this debate. The division has nothing to do with it, it's about performances.

Why do people use this as an excuse?

If he had played very well, he would've stood out, been talked about and snapped up by now.

    He's poor.

Well I beg to differ, Curtis Davies prior to joining us was not considered as a player that would do a great job for us, and see how he turned out. Confidence is a large part of any players makeup to make them good, bad or indifferent. Anyhow I certainly have faith in SB, I think he knows and has proved that he knows what to look for in a centre half, a lot more than either me or you.

They are the price on the Premier league (official) fantasy football league you pay for them to play for you. Seem a bit pricey to me

Well of course it does, Curtis had been playing at that level for 3 years before we snapped him up. In that three year gap nobody came in for him. Was he playing **** for Birmingham in those three years? No, he wasn't. He was named in the PFA team of the year in 2011 and still didn't get picked up. So he was hardly playing like crap was he?

Hangeland joined Fulham in the 2007-08 season. His performances saw him linked to big clubs a couple of years later and it was only thanks to Fulhams decline that he has gone downhill with them; it's a bit hard to play your best with the ****storm that was going on and Fulham pissing about like they did. He was probably on a decent wage there and I'd guess his release is more to do with that than his performances. Most Fulham fans I spoke to said they're gutted he's gone.

He'll be good cover if we get him on a years contract, he isn't costing anything so why are people so against this? He'll be behind Davies, Chester, McShane and Maguire anyway.

Because he isn't needed, wages would be better spent on areas that need improving. If he's behind Davies, Chester, McShane and Maguire, what's the point?

He'll be costing us a fair bit in wages and I don't believe for a minute he'd come in behind our other centre backs, he'd be here to make up the starting line up in a back three.

We still don't need him. Our defence was probably our strongest point last season, we've lost Faye and replaced him with Maguire. If we're playing with three centre-backs then we're okay as Bruce, McShane and even Figgy can play there, we also have Maguire to blood in. Signing Hangeland would be a waste of wages, we should focus on improving other areas that need improving, not our strongest area.

Yes but we don't know who's leaving (if anybody is, which you'd have to assume given we would then have 6 CB's). SB might've told Macca and Bruce Jnr to find other clubs. SB wouldn't bother bringing him in if we didn't need him, would he?

It has already been said that Maguire is going into the development squad.

I really hope not, that's a death sentence. It's also strange that we'd spend £2.5m on a development squad player, considering the likes of Rossi and ter Horst that we've been signing.

I'm pretty sure it was suggested on here that he'd go into the development squad, I don't think I've read anything from the club suggesting he would.
