i just googled lol and that seems to be correct. odd i remember it dif though, ie to play up front with torres than to actually replace him. maybe i remember the club saying that or something, cant remember now.
My memory is that Suarez and Torres were meant to play together. Though I agree that we don't know what was going on behind the scenes, the club had stated that he wasn't for sale, but he handed in a transfer request so we let him go. We made a last minute panic buy on AC because it was the end of the window, but the rest of the Torres dosh was spent on the likes of Hendo, Adam, Downing etc in the summer. In my head Suarez is not a part of the Torres deal as such.
I think Comolli did mention that Suarez was targeted before Torres left, and the two would play together. Imagine those two in the same team ... wow.
I am pretty sure you were going to sign Suarez regardless. He wasn't Torres' replacement, Andy Carroll was.
Suarez was meant to be Torres' new partner but the latter forced a move. The Suarez deal had been done but he didn't actually sign until deadline day, the same day Torres left and Carroll arrived.
Quite possible that htey were originally meant to play together. The interest in Suarez was public well before any move for Torres.
I saw peter Gabriel perform at the free Rock Against Racism concert at Clapham Common when I was on my stag do in London. 2 and a half tabs of acid and a quarter of blow in 3 days
It's the Genesis of a new era for Liverpool, he'll Sledgehammer the opposition defence. (Don't know any other Peter Gabriel puns )
As long as he Dont Give up, he is strong on the ball like a Sledgehammer, this could be the Genesis of a whole new Liverpool team.
