Will you be keeping the page open for a while? Not in a position to donate at the moment but a in couple of weeks or so I'll be able to.
I have just read the Just Giving charging mechanism. They take 5% of the gross donations plus a card processing charge...c£1.25 but this is taken from the Gift Aid taxation benefit (where applicable) therefore all donations should be paid in full with hopefully a little extra through Gift Aid. Non UK residents cannot claim the Gift Aid but we should still be ok for the full gross donation to go to the charity. The Gift Aid benefit is an additional 25% of the gross donation.
PhilHul, As a non-resident of the UK, hence no involvement with the UK tax system, I am planning to have my sister (who's a UK tax resident) submit my donation on my behalf & therefore trigger the Gift Aid tax benefit to maximize the impact on the charity. I'll just get the money to my sister (it just so happens that next weekend a pal of mine from Hull is staying with me in Toronto for a few days on his way back to England after a music tour in Seattle, Washington. He can take the money to my sister on his return back home. tigerscanada Other doners not in the UK could hopefully use family or friends resident in the UK also in a similar fashion.
Hands in your pockets lads and lasses it's for a good cause. Every little helps. https://www.justgiving.com/not606Hull/
Now up to £295, but plenty of those who pledged cash have not donated yet, lets make sure we get the numbers up to where they should be.
Just donated $50 (30 pounds) in memory of my dear old Mum-in-law Elsie Dickinson who died 20 years ago from this awful disease. Love you Mum!! Here's a lovely little song from the Alzheimers commercial over here...not sure if it will play in the UK but give it a go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHolyGQy0mU&list=RDnHolyGQy0mU#t=158
Of the forum members who pledged a specified donation only 3 remain to do so-tigerscanada,Calgary Tiger and myself. Tigerscanada is arranging his 80 pounds donation via a UK route and I will raise my donation to cover the 5% fee plus credit charge to ensure 200 pounds reaches the charity. This will leave a shortfall of around 25 pounds from the Spanner 82 target of 700. My donation will be given a week today which is a significant day in my life and will also mark my final post on here. It is also Hiroshima day!
Why will it be your final post on here Mrs BMB....you need to hang around for the great season ahead. So is Mr BMB going to take your place? Also well done on the great donation....you are VERY generous!!
My husband has been pestering me for a while now about taking my spot and I have agreed. As a Hull City supporter for almost 70 years he is more relevant on here than a Darlington fan. He will join the 75's club and will be No4 on the Febbos Old Geezers List. His user name will be the same as he used when he was on the Hull City Mad forum so the Mrs will just be removed from mine.
After adding to the impetus of our joint charitable escapade, it does seem a tad disappointing that it should also be your swan song; is it because a laptop can only have one user (I'm guessing!). If it is technically possible, then hang around and keep us on track with the able assistance of Blue Mountain Bear, the ying yang way forward! C'mon, Quakers don't normally quit on their communities - stay where you're wanted.
