I think we all know he is going to go to Barca one day. If we get the right price then it's probably best to cash in on him now. Especially with Wilshere, Ramsey and possibly Alvarez coming in. There's no point trying to keep a player against his will if he really wants to leave. Although the last thing Fabregas said was that he is happy at Arsenal.

Anyway, they only thing that is new in this story is that Gazidis has said
but it's also down to Wenger whether he will allow Fabregas to go
In my opinion, whilst it would be sad to see him go, Arsenal would be better off without a want away player.

Most interesting bit in that for me was LBS's comment at the bottom about Dein. I've always thought we desperately missed him but apparently I guess you never know what goes on behind the scenes.

    Gazidis didn't say it.
The story says "a senior Arsenal official." No clues as to who it was.

Sorry, you are right. A 'senior Arsenal official? Who's that then? The tea boy, the boot polisher or the bloke who cleans out the changing rooms after match days? I'll take it all with a huge pinch of salt until anything genuinely 'official' is released. <ok>

Any less then 40mil and i think their will be many angry fans. Fabregas has 3-4 years on his contract. He is only 24. Is one of the most creative midfielders in the world (an average of 18 assist and an average of 10 goals per season in the last 5 seasons). Yes we must accept that his heart lies in Barcelona, but just because they are in debt doesn't mean we should sell for whatever price they can afford. Arsenal need to be strong and ruthless or run the risk of creating an uproar amongst the fans.

apparently Fabregas has a clause in his contract that he gets 15% of any transfer fee paid for him. If Barca go to 40m, that entitles Fabregas to 6m - so if he waives that it actually values the transfer at 47m.

I could see Arsenal going for it at that point.

Barcelona would also sell Messi for the right price, don't see the news story.

There is no player in the world as good as Fabregas is available for £20 million, £40 mill should be the minimum we get.

Its not about changing the way we play, i would happily sign Pastore who would make us much more of a direct team. However for £20 million we wouldn't be able to get him or players of that quality.

Fab looks to all intents and purposes like he's going. I hope Arsenal play hardball and make Barca cough up the right cash for him. A public statement ridiculing their valuation and saying "if you want him so much, if you want to take him home, if you love him as one of your own, then stump up the cash" would be fantastic.

I think Arsenal will sell at 40m, perhaps a bit lower, as long as Fabregas waives his right to 15% of the fee.
