    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...minic-Solanke-dont-play-England-blame-ME.html

Bold words from Jose. Our trio of young stars will make it, according to the best coach in the world.

“My conscience is, for example, to say to you that I think Baker, Brown, Solanke, if in a few years they are not national team players, I should blame myself,” Mourinho said.
“They are part of a process the club started without me. Now, we have players who will be Chelsea players.
"And when they become Chelsea players, they will become England players, almost for sure. I’m not saying we’re doing it just for English football, because it is also about us.
“At the moment, officially in the first team squad, not under 21s coming to join us now and again, we have Christensen, Aké, probably another one because I want to have one more English player.
“Baker, Brown, Solanke and Jeremy Boga. These four are not going to be in my squad because I cannot have 30 in my squad, but these four are going to work with us all season and these four are going to be Chelsea players.
“These three are English – Brown, Solanke and Baker – they have to be Chelsea players and they have to be national team players. They have to.
"And I have this feeling that our academy is bringing players to our level.
“Chelsea will have a strong team with Christensen, Baker, Brown, Solanke, Boga and Kurt Zouma in two or three years, which is the end of my contract.
“English guys or seven or eight guys from the academy – home-grown players. It’s a complete turnaround. At the moment, you look at the Champions League list and John Terry is the only one club trained.”

I hope this happens, and that they are good enough, christ knows it has been a long time since I got excited about a youth prospect.

Hmmm out of these, Boga is our best prospect, but I've been impressed by Brown and Baker as well. But what about Loftus Cheek, where's he been pre season - would have thought he'd be in the same category...... and how must Bamford feel to not have got a mention....

This is my point, people say "This kid, [Insert name] looks really good, I would like to see him in the squad!"
Then 12 months later he goes on loan for a season or two, then he is sold to Stoke or Sunderland for £3 million and he ends up being a "meh" player.
I just roll my eyes now when people talk about our youth team. I am far too cynical about it, and hope to heck I am proven wrong, but I cant help it

It's unlikely they will become Chelsea players as they won't be given the time to develop their way into the first team. Not a single youth player has since Roman's Quick Fix Revolution.

Agreed. Josh and Kakuta looked brilliant prospects under Carlo; who looks like the only Chelsea manager under Roman to have really given youth a go. If we'd have kept Carlo perhaps we'd be seeing more in the first team by now.

The youth sides looks like a cattle market at the moment. Fatten em up on loan and sell to the highest bidder. It doesn't look for a second like there is any genuine interest in getting these kids in the first team.

How long before we do a United and let a true top class talent go for peanuts (Pogba, Rossi, Pique).

Josh and Kakuta were the two that stuck in my mind too, because they are the ones I had the highest hopes for.

(and we both blatantly put Josh because we cant write McEcharandqfnui? <laugh>)

Our youth teams in the last 5 years have cleaned up at youth level, winning FA youth cups etc.....so you gotta think there has been some talent there recently.....unfortunately only Vitesse Arnheim ever get to witness them play before we flog em!

Definitely talent there but without giving them games we'll never know for sure. Loan moves can help some players in the right environment but it seems to stifle some. I think Josh ( :) ) would have been better off getting games with us then in average championship sides as his game is suited to higher end teams who retain possession. Ironic that we've been crying out for a ball playing midfielder for ages and we had an exciting young kid not getting a chance. Is Van Ginkel for instance really any better than Josh could be?

I can accept that of 11 fa cup youth winners they aren't all going to break through but you'd expect 2-3 to do so, surely?

What chance has Bamford or Feruz got if we're bringing back a 36 year old to be 3rd choice striker?

At least he's saying these things in public, more than any other cfc manager has said for the youth in my memory at least. Ultimately as we've seen with Lukaku its down to the player. I STILL (though i don't know why) believe if they're good enough they will play.

Prove me and jose right boys!!

    i) we're already short of homegrown talent.
ii) baker / brown & co have just won both the youth cup and the under 21s, and we have been there or thereabouts for the last 5 yrs
iii) there is a massive premium on buying English talent - exhibit: Shaw
iv) Jose has stated that effectively, Shaw is too expensive - ergo he is acutely aware of (iii)
    v) Jose has enough confdence in the potential of Baker / brown & co that he is willing to risk his reputation for it

    ergo

vi) these kids will get a proper chance - it's a no brainer from the economic perspective - and I am confident some of them will be regulars in the England and Chelsea set up in the next few years.

    dont worry be happy
