I can picture Fran in her local co op praying as she puts on her numbers for tonight's euro of £29 m then she can buy Jose for £4m and lock him away.

 

1) Why would Kat need to depose NC to sell? It's her club, she can sell whenever she wants to whoever she wants. NC can't stop her. And whoever buys the club won't care. If they don't like NC they could just fire him immediately.

2) He didn't have a vested interest in the success of the club. He quit the club in the middle of a season. KL is still here. You tell me who has more vested in the club.

3) In my mind it's a hell of a stretch of imagination to believe that major investment wouldn't have been required. You would have to be pretty amazing to take on Man U, Chelsea, etc. with Southampton's resources. Even if being clever with cash. And that's what the dispute was likely about. Didn't NC once give one of those "If you aren't rising, you're falling" sort of quotes? KL wanted to operate the team on a budget the size of which would not allow NC to do what he wanted. Whether that was because KL wanted to sell the club, I don't know.

 

1. Preparation for a sale. A sale takes time and she would have wanted financial control during that time.
2. Yes he did, he was the highest-paid chairman in the league.
3. A "major investment" which would have gone against FFP? I don't think that was anything to do with the disagreement.

 

A bit of positive news. There are many reports Osvaldo is close to signing for Inter Milan.

 

Shame it won't be on a perm.

 

I think I might just randomly throw insults out about Cortese and see how annoyed you get Joe... just for the sport of it

 

Interesting to see that the three players used for the promo pictures for the new shirts were Jose, JWP and Jay. Now I'd suspect that would suggest there was never any intent to let any of them go. Would have been a bit of a PR disaster otherwise.
