Didnt think it would get so serious! Some like it, some dont I think its boring but have no probs if others like watching paint dry
That's kind of my opinion too... No intention to convert anyone from "Cricketism"... just find it baffling some watch it... but if they want to... that doesn't bother me in the slightest... it's never on the telly over here so I'm not ever forced to endure it anymore! I have looked at the Cricket thread a few times thinklng... surely no one is actually discussing cricket... but they are, so I leave.
Bit harsh really, specially considering Yorkshire's role in cricket. I love cricket and its great to play too. People always underestimate playing it - it is dangerous especially if you do not buy the correct equipment!
Rich snobs from Yorkshire! Sorry... but would you not consider it more an "upper-class" sport? I think it is more popular in the South than the North too is it not?
Then don't make ****ing assumptions about it. There are loads of kids, a lot more women than you'd expect and very few snobby Southerners from Edgbaston up. It's also a ****ing great day out, even if you don't really like it. It's obviously even better if you do.
No I would say it is more popular in the North. In particular Yorkshire which is the most important county imo, and then there is Durham and Cheshire. Its not just for rich people as I play it. You have a really outdated view of cricket. It is a traditional English game, part of the reason I like it - what's wrong with not being traditional and not having Coca Cola written all over it!
That's what the yanks told me about Baseball... "it's not about the game- it's about being social and having fun"... Baseball was boring! LOL... although the minor league games were more fun than the major league games... Baseball is always boring though- that's why everyone drinks and no one actually watches the game in the stadium.
Damn it you got me!! Don't have any of that s**t when I play! Thats the T20 influence ruining everything!
By the way RHC, there is a ****ing thread for this bollocks! We cant discuss music, films, games, F1 etc so take your bat and ball and piss off! x
Football won't change to that extent. That audience would go to futsal instead. I think the biggest change football might possibly get in the future would be moving to real time. 2x30 minute halves but the clock stops when the ball is out of play. A further increase in subs might also be possible. This would mainly benefit big clubs but they have the most power anyway. A total move to line changes would allow for massive swings in offensive and defensive tactical play while also protecting expensive players from injuries and fatigue.
Quite likely as I haven't lived in the country for 20 years... I don't know anyone who watched cricket... it's what grand father's used to bore grand children with stories of.
around long before t20 i am afraid, since marketing has become more key its been around. t20 along with everything else is just on the bandwagon.
Fuck me Scholes is now a pundit They're just giving jobs to anyone associated with Man Utd regardless of their inability to communicate with other human beings
Interesting... US Cricket association estimates there are up to 20 million cricket fans in the US... Seems highly unlikely to me... but if true... that would probably suggest more cricket fans in the US than the UK... UK is what 60million people... I don't think 1/3 Brits are Cricket fans... unless cricket has become dramatically more popular in last 20 years... 1/10 would have been my guess when growing up. Anyhow... US no way has 20million fans of cricket... silly stat... but made me chuckle.
