Evil Post are advertising a story in tomorrow's paper saying that Rovers will have to fund the stadium. "Bristol Rovers: Stadium won't happen unless club can fund it" Looks like a poor attempt at boosting sales especially as it's on page 5. The link title is about commuting which is even more bizarre http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Bristol-s-commuting-habits-changing/story-21966084-detail/story.html
The funding will come from the sale of The Memorial stadium unless something has changed the paper is the biggest bag of **** going
Yep, agree with the above. It's a 'no **** Sherlock' story. Of course it won't happen unless we sell the Mem to Sainsburys, but that's the plan. The Post has been an embarrassment to Bristol for a while now. So sad as it used to be good.
I hear they are also running a story that cars wont run unless you put petrol in it (unless you have one of these new electric ones!)
Now they are scaring people into thinking the A380 is in trouble. Slow news week at the Post, let's hope so.
Here is the story. I must say what a load of crap! http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Univer...scue-Bristol/story-22015352-detail/story.html
Since when are Rovers buying the land? I understood we had a lease on it? The guy quoted does not sound very enthusiastic about the stadium. I thought this was UWE trying to rival Bath Uni in sport. All a bit strange if you ask me.
For UWE that would mean we then have however many acres of land to do something else with. It's as simple as that. Would I rather build a stadium than a faculty of business and law? Absolutely not. Our core business is education. I think that's just a political statement. I believe he means that if he had to raise the funding for the build of a sports stadium or an academic facility he would make the obvious choice as an educational establishment
Well from the meeting last week there is no issue, Sainsbury's can't get out of the contract however there may be a shortfall due to the JC delay but the board said they will cover it. Seriously what a stupid story
we will have a lease in it. what was said by the club before is that the stadium will be ours. but we will have a lease on the land itself. however we dont have to pay for the lease. an arrangement has been made between UWE and rovers over this. the lease was suppose to be about £8million for the whole period. but UWE said they dont want money for the lease but instead they will get benefits of using the stadium. benefits such as naming rights to name the stadium. also be able to use the stadium when we aint using it. courses/classes will be set up for students where they can get involved around the construction of the stadium, sports science and sports media side of things. also when the stadium is built, students will be used to be staff around the stadium for games and other events like catering in the stadium, meet and greeters, turnstiles etc etc. so students will be used for the bar, gym and shop that will be built along with the stadium. special offers will be made available to students which will give us bigger attendances and potential new fan base. plus many other benefits which hasnt been disclosed. the stadium will give UWE a much better name because they will have the biggest stadium in europe that is associated with a university. they will attract the best students. this is the plan, all good on paper of course
I would like to see these ****ers banned from coming anywhere near are club I would if I was DC or NH
