Should gimmethickerhoops be banned

There seems to be something of a banning epidemic on the QPR board - now up to 4 bannings over the last couple of weeks. What is going on there ?

 

I know that this thread is getting on some people's nerves and that we need to get it behind us. But - we need to be homing in on some kind of conclusion. Do we let things stand as they are - or do we use the offer which Minxy has made and give gth/Busy Bee a chance on our board, or maybe reach a compromise solution like ofh has suggested ?

 

As we are talking about site wide issues, perhaps if the rules are being looked at it might be worth suggesting that rather than a full site ban if the offending party is excluded by his own team that perhaps a '3 boards and your out' style. If mods from 3 boards ask for a ban then a site ban is automatically applied. This would prevent overzealous 'home' boards (thankfully not the case with Watford's mods I hasten to add) from having people banned unnecessarily. They could still be banned from single boards but free to contribute elsewhere but it would prevent those who troll around all boards. There is probably a board specifically for this sort of post but as it is being discussed...

 

Would he actually want to comeback to just the Watford Board.

Part of the reasoning behind my suggestion was that it would be our mods on our board who would monitor the situation. I quite like the suggestion you make Hockdude about three different boards being required to request a ban before a total site ban is brought in. Not sure just how easy this would be to administer, but I expect someone could look at it and see if it is viable.

So, since it seems fitting that GTH has the last word, i suggest we go with M Frenchie's suggestion and give him 3 months in which to prove himself. After that time, it's up to the QPR board if they want to ease the ban on their board but he'd be welcome to stay with us. Obviously, Dan and i will make sure that he behaves, or we will have to implement the ban from the board.

Unless anyone violently disagrees with this, i will wait until tomorrow (Tuesday) evening, and then will lock this thread.

I assume this has been clarified to Gimme, that the Watford board has no jurisdiction on other boards and as this was an appeal to return to the Watford board, I assume Gimme has miss-understood and it will be solely that. If it is not then then who will moderate Gimme on other boards, Watford mods don't have that jurisdiction nor should they enforce their community decisions on to other boards.

Like i have highlighted before Gimme would have been allowed back eventually but because he's got certain non QPR mates on here, he is an exception. At least he validated my earlier comments that banned members can still read in guest mode. Not sure if they can still message or not, I've never tested that function before.

Now i might not be popular on here, but i would hope my opinion will be as respected as the next and not subject to the previous insults.

 

I agree to this H. It would have to be made absolutely clear to him that he is banned from all other boards (and not just QPR). Also I do not want any cronies of his cluttering our board with posts because we have become his last refuge - in other words the whole situation needs to be monitored not just him. I think a good idea for anyone who has time would be to read through the QPR thread regarding his banning there - called 'Panda Boy' (I don't know how to post links, but it is easy enough to find using the 'search' function on their board ) the discussion also refers to a Daily Mirror article about 606 which explains extra vigilance on our site.

 

Please be clear the only option BB is being offered is the Watford board or nothing.

My assumption when I suggested the compromise was that he would be only allowed access to the Watford board. I also believe that he should only use the BB title out of fairness to the QPR mods, whether they are right or wrong to want him banned. It seems that not many people here are too bothered about him, so I would go with H's suggestion that we leave the thread open until this evening, then if there are no real objections we put the whole issue to bed and let him prove himself to be a constructive member of the forum.

My last comment is that maybe we have learnt something about how the site is run. QPR mods did put out a statement about their spot of hassle, something that I would be disappointed to see from our mods as I don't think we get to that point. Enough waves, let's see a period of calm as we will soon be able to discuss the latest football drama.

 

As for the 3 board ban & you are out ..... more people would be banned that way than with a straight forward home site ban ...... We have many posters who are banned from several other boards already ..... But are sensible posters on their own board ...... usually due to rivalry

Many of the folk who get a straight ban from their own board it is a short cooling off period as in the 3 recent QPR fans who wouldn't listen to reason. This sort of short sharp ban often works well & cannot be compared to a permanent board ban

I would also say that most people who get a board ban already have bans from other board but you would not be aware of this as a board ban does not show up anywhere other than the main control board which is accessed by the owner & the super-mods

In my experience QPR mods are fair & not trigger happy with asking for bans ..... we rarely hear from them on the mods board ..... So please be careful about making judgments there

 

and we certainly dont want him or his cronies on the Barnsley board

Fair enough, you will obviously know the patterns of this sort of thing far better than I.

Of course my reference to overzealous mods was generic and site wide, I didn't mention any teams or mods by name. I don't go on other boards very often and have no opinions of the mods on any of them so no judgements are being made from my end.

 

I agree completely here. The question is not 'To Bee or not to Bee`but rather - Gimme is dead long live the Bee ! I fully expect our new Watford fan (with Brentford leanings ?) to show his credentials by wearing a Hornets tricot during matches !
