My initial thought is that they know how well handicapped he is and will be going to the well twice this week. I am confident that he is going to win tomorrow and current best odds are 9-2 but at the same time and think the 10-1 for him to follow up in the Hurdle should be taken too as when he bolts up tomorrow that price will be slashed. He is a horse on a real upward curve and looks one to follow. While you are at it you might even want to take 20-1 on him for the Ebor! Quick Jack is unlikely to get into the Galway Hurdle field as he needs 18 horses to be withdrawn to get a run, all Ante-Post bet stakes will be returned by Bookmakers if he is balloted out . Trainer states "He might not get into the Galway Hurdle but he's in a mile-and-a-half handicap and he's also in a hurdle race on Friday. We'll see how he is on Thursday morning and we'll give him plenty of time between now and then." Quick Jack @ 20/1 Ebor Handicap York 23rd Aug 2014 P.S. The Goodwood card is incredibly difficult tomorrow. Aside from the odds on Beacon the only horse I fancy is Buckstay in the last. I feel there is more to come from this selection and it's in a winnable race here.
BARNET FAIR 9-1 Goodwood 5:20 arrives here off the back of a fast finishing second on Sunday at Goodwood. Cam Hardie the apprentice of the moment takes off a handy 5lbs. You need a bit of luck in running in these races but this battle hardened handicapper can a plot a course to success.
3.05 Goodwood - Toormore -7/4 This is my bet of the week, will determine the rest of it aswell lol. A C&D winner, an was mighty impressive in the craven stakes with the Grey Gatsby in behind but has been a little exposed in the top G1's this season but this is a whole lot easier. The Guineas was abit of a disappointment and the st James stakes was apparently a give it a go and see with him. But is a horse that likes he track he was the champion juvenile last yr! And will like the step down in trip an grade and will be mighty hard to beat
1.50 Goodwood - Wigmore Hall 33/1 ew This former Group 1 performer has slipped down to a very attractive mark on his handicap debut, with spencer on board who has a good record on him @ 33/1 is a massive each way price
4.50 Goodwood Extremity 5/1 Looked promising over 7f but that hasnt worked out the last 2 times so now steps up in grade and the headgear may bring out the best in him and has Ryan on board
Tuesdays Pricewise > Goodwood 155 THA'IR 18/1 + SALUTATION, 340 BIG THUNDER >Galway 640 DEFINING YEAR.
Good job I put it nr the end then, he can come up with a bit of magic not very often but can do and he does have a good rapport with the horse he was racing competitively in gr2/3's last September so this should be a lot easier unless he is another regal parade and just lost interest in racing all together.
That barsteward Pricewise had sponged off me! Well, almost Tha'ir Big Thunder and although I think Toormore will win .... Glory Awaits ew at 18-1 (Coral) Beacon should also win, but I don't have a big enough wheelbarrow!
The feature of the first day is the Lennox Stakes, a race that in recent years have become very competitive; and this year’s renewal look up to the standard. Toormore has to put two disappointing efforts behind him and look more like last season’s champion. It is hard to fancy last year’s winner Garswood, on whom they have resorted to the first time visor, or Listed winner Glory Awaits stepping up considerably in grade. Whilst the seventh furlong presents something of a conundrum, Gregorian comes here as the form pick after his strong third in the July Cup (and beat Garswood in the Criterion) and also represents a bang-in-form stable. There is no doubt that the form pick in the Molecomb Stakes is Beacon from the Hannon yard, but at the odds he is only one to watch in a race where stablemate Dougal (fantastic name for a Zebedee colt!), Cotai Glory and Mukhmal are all not without claims. The opening race of the meeting may be numerically large but quite a few can be easily discounted because of their lack of recent form. Of Mark Johnston’s three, Salutation looks the most interesting with Michael Murphy’s three pound claim for a trainer with a stellar record at this meeting. Hunt Cup fourth Sea Shanty, Magic Hurricane and Stomachion all come to Sussex in top form, whilst Ajman Bridge was an eye-catching second last time. Topweight Tha’ir takes a drop in class but could struggle to give thirteen pounds to Sir Michael Stoute’s gelding, who might benefit from the two furlong drop in trip after looking not to stay at Epsom. Interesting to note that Paul Hanagan is not riding for his retainer in the 4:50 but does have an outside ride in the last.
Questions on the eve of Glorious Goodwood: Is a man somewhere in Yorkshire tonight begging Mark Johnston to at least consider some new tactics other than bolt out in front and hope for the best? Will, when a Johnston horse inevitably does manage to just last home, a lazy commentator remark even in 2014 the rubbish about MJ horses being difficult to pass? Will the forums favourite jock J Spencer recognise that not every horse needs holding up? Will all Jockeys realise that to get behind horses on the rail means you do not win, unless Moses is in front of you carrying a staff?
look in now again and not that pleased with the start of the daily thread attivo no probs with you doing the thread every day but stop the bold type and dont set up stick for a fall he is top man and the board is much better than ever we dont want to go back to the old days if im wrong guys tell me i know stick well love him to bits ive mot spoken to him re this so if im out off order i will **** off
Superb intro attivo -- good links, but be careful not to put too much otherwise it's brain overload! I like Ferguson's nag -I'm fraam Govan -a dark one for sure -big thunder appeals for me to -tonigh at Worcester keep an eye on Don cantillons two runners -one in a seller -the other in a maiden with Leighton on board........
Interesting that all 7 runnings of 4.15 Goodwood have been won by horses with experience. Can't come up with the winner though!
