I don't think anyone sane would pick a Spurs defender after last season... It'll be interesting to see just exactly where Lamela and Eriksen play with Pochettino in charge but I think you can guarantee they'll both be starting. A new manager would be a fool to drop their best attacker and their most expensive player at the same time, leave that nonsense to anti-football managers like Mourinho.
Boss, I think I read that you did well last season!? What was your overall rank? What would your advice be then? Every year, I struggle to pick a good starting team and subsequently wildcard after 2 or 3 weeks lol!
Pochettino has a good record in that area, your defence is arguably better than the Southampton defence who started the season so brilliantly last year. I really rate Ben Davies, you have pretty decent opening fixtures, and £5m is a pretty good price.
Jack, I'm never keen on boasting but as you asked, out of 3 and half million players I finished 63rd and as the number 1 spurs fan in the entire game but I'm only telling you this as you asked! But jesting aside, SOS is right about Eriksen, guaranteed starter and will score/assist but other then that I would stay away from our players for now. I wouldn't worry too much about the starting team but best bet is to go with tried and tested players, players that take penalties, free kicks etc. Gerrard, Baines would be good shouts. Newcastle have a easy run of fixtures after Man City so Gouffran could be a worth a punt as he will played up top. If you want to go with cheap players that could rack up points, then Hull have an easy start. QPR have two home games so Caulker is one player who may start well as he scores from corners. Chelsea defenders as they have an easy run and Cahill and Terry will score from set peices. Snodgrass who I picked takes free kicks, Shelvey is cheap and got more points then Barkley last year. But really first few weeks are just luck as no one knows who is going to start off in good form, just a complete punt and then after the first three weeks use your wild card and have a quick look at the fixtures to see who has a good run of games. But I'll never hear the end of it if Lamela starts the season banging them in!
It was tongue-in-cheek as I have 2 Spurs defenders in my team. I mostly just pick the players I like though and Walker has always been one of my favourites, even if he is a bit of a kamikaze player at times, and Davies is a player I always liked too. I'm not so convinced we're going to turn around some of our dire defending quite so quickly though. In the long run I can see Pochettino making us a really good side to watch again but in the short term I think we'll do well just to get enough points to keep the pressure off ourselves.
Wow, fair play to you man I think I was in the top 16k, and was pretty happy with that! If I had finished as high as you, I would be shouting from the rooftops Cheers for the advice. Maybe it is sensible to start with the "stick to what you know" philosophy", and just jump on any bandwagons once these unknown quantities actually start producing the goods.
I was thinking of taking a punt on your keeper, and left back De Laet? as out of the promoted teams your home fixture against Everton looks like an upset but I won't jinx it for you and keep them out of my team!
I wouldn't back us to keep a clean sheet away from home, and in the first half of the season, we play host to Everton, Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool, Man City, and yourselves! That leaves our only "decent" home games as Burnley, West Brom, and Sunderland... Which means I would only happily play a Leicester defender in 3 of our first 20 league games I would avoid at all costs!
Jack I wouldn't read too much into Boss' success, rumours are he paid a couple of the FPL Admin guys to allow him double the amount of wildcards and an extra transfer each week.
I've got a good feeling about Charlie Austin at £6.0. He'll get game time. Is starting the senior part of his career at 25 years old. This season will be his best yet. Harry will make sure of that.
He will take QPR's penalties and is their main striker so defintley worth putting in your team, and QPR have two home games in the first few weeks so Austin and Caulker
Hahaha, i meant what have you got to say about me suggesting we sign Austin? You put him in a different bracket to Fletcher?
