The Nigerian is not a defensive midfielder, he is a central midfielder and you expect them to bang in more than two goals in a league like Spain's where outside of the Top 3 the quality is akin to the Championship. Edit: is he Nigerian?

Yeah, would make sense. His previous club was Charlton Athletic. You'd imagine as long as Arsene wants him to remain he'd be happy to go on loan to any London club. If Wenger had wanted rid we would have stood a chance.

I doubt the above article is true (as he will cost a few mill no doubt) but I wish that it were. Tremmel is in the last year of his contract and I think it will be his last year as well. Fabianski has a history of injuries and sketchy form. I'd be much more comfortable going with Fabianski as no.1 if we had someone like McCarthy waiting in the wings on a long term contract....much more comfortable.

I hope not and especially at that price. From what I have heard he is worsethan what we have got i.e Tiendalli. 5mill sems a lot for someone of this quality especially as we only sold Ben for 10
What concerns me more is that Spurs look like tying up a deal for Rodriguez this morning which leaves Liverpool the only taker for Bony. I know Monk has come out saying it would take an astronomical offer to sell him but Liverpool have the cash to splash so to speak. I am hoping HJ will clarify this morning on the radio. On another note didnt ML say those exact words about Michu at the end of his first season.
I agree actually. I was for Naughton being chucked in with the Davies deal. I would still be for him joining for £1m or so (Home-grown, experienced at the top level, cover for a potential problem position).... ....but if we're talking £5m ish I would be disappointed. After all we swapped Ben Davies for a player worth £8m. Spurs don't even want Naughton, as they didn't want Siggy. Don't want to be done over by them again (....and yes I rate Siggy, before anyone jumps in, I've wanted him back ever since things looked like going sour at Spurs....my position is about getting good value).
Not impressed at all with Naughton and even less impressed at £5M As above it would have made sense to include him in the Ben deal at a favourable price but a £5m standalone price tag
We are at the stage in the development of the club when we should be improving the quality of the squad not just making up numbers. I don't think Naughton would improve the quality.

Didn't the write up in the link I posted say that he'd play defensive midfield against stronger opposition and switch to playmaker against weaker opposition? Sounds a bit like Leon to me. Sounds a bit like Leon physically as well. Short, tireless, good game intelligence and good passer...sounds more tenacious in the tackle however. I have no idea whether he is good enough but if our scouts have identified him as a possibility I can see why. Would welcome him here myself...seems to have potential, with the right coaching.
