I'm sorry but I can't believe Reed said 'our position hasn't changed, we remain determined to keep our talented youngsters' I mean, really? We don't seem very determined from where I'm sitting, taking the piss out of fans if you ask me, I would rather have honesty (even if its not what we want to hear) or nothing.
I think you are being very harsh and also naive. When someone says things like that, we need to be careful how we translate it. What were his exact words? What was the context? Was it before someone asked for a move? Etc, etc. it is a statement made and we take it as a snapshot and that is it. Will you come back on here and say that Rinald Koeman is embarrassing and needs to pull his finger out of his arsehole when Morgan leaves? Ron said that Morgan was a Saints player and was staying. What if Morgan comes back today, sits down with Ron and explains why he and to go and he goes? I won't see that as embarrassing for Ron because I deal sues that when he made his statement it was a snapshot in time. Some fans need to chill out, or maybe they just aren't very experienced in life? Back to your message as if you were Les.... You've told me what you wouldn't say... So what would you say?
Les Reed is certainly loosing all credibility with me with these stupid statements that plainly are incorrect and the actions of the club clearly do not reflect the "Party Line" he is towing RK has lost the respect and support of the fans and Les is following quickly down the same corridor.
I was determined to do lots of things; life sometimes doesn't give you what you want or what you are determined to do.

Sorry Dark Lord, did you say Romald Koeman has lost the support and respect of the fans? How the heck did you get to that? Edit. Oops. I assume now you mean Krueger?
I am being harsh, but I am also being fair. His reign as our director of football so far, has been abysmal. Based on actions, not words. You are the one being naïve if you think that he deserves my continued support. I would never be stupid enough to hold Koeman responsible for any of this, that's ridiculous. He is the only positive in the last few months. I would have said: "We are in a position where unfortunately we cannot compete with the biggest clubs in the land. I would like to reassure fans that we are doing everything in our power to convince players to stay, however often the lure of Champions League, and a larger pay cheque often tempts players away. I am sincere when I say that we will do our best to replace the lost players with players of equal or greater quality, as well as striving to improve the young players currently on our books."
I believe Nicola had agreed to let Shaw go this summer, Lallana is hardly a youngster, and none of the other deserting rats were developed by us, so Les has only officially let go of Chambers. Doesn't contradict the statement about being determined to keep our youngsters.
I agree but coming out with statements like that after the summer we've had so far is nothing short of ridiculous. That one phrase really got to me and it's no way to win the trust back from fans....
What can Les possibly say to appease fans right now when there are no confirmed transfers in? Absolutely nothing! Chambers wanted to leave for precisely the reason that CBK and others stated. I'm with FLT and Beefy here, next please! As much as it frustrates me, as I want my team to play at the top level, the premier league is horrible and ****ed, but we're in it, and I'm backing Ron and the skeleton crew that we have to galvanise; which is what we as fans should do. All this blame and analysis (lets save that for the games) won't get us Clasie and co.
How does it look to incoming players or are they not bothered whilst they will get a decent wage? How do you attract players? Do they see a club that doesn't stand in your way when you want to move on? Will we attract top top players or has the oppuntunity gone?
It must be so much more difficult to sign someone when any prospects can see that the best and most influential players are all leaving. It's absolutely crap. Reeds statement implied we had good players through. Is that the plan? That worked out well when we were relegated. Is that the plan use inexperienced youth. We seem to be taking ages on signing any one. Is it because those responsible are focussing on selling rather than buying
Heya, first post here, so go easy Thing is with this transfer, I think its easy to forget the journey we've all been on in the last 5 years. (ok, not including the flood of our other departures this year,) Chambers at 16 million, would represent our biggest ever sale !! after all, the Ox went for 14 I think, and most fans thought ok, fair enough, good deal. Whilst I have real concerns about the ability of our so called "board" to attract adequate replacemets, the sheer fact is that EVEN chambers was sold for more than we paid for our record signing last year ... Don't get me wrong, it's devastating to see our club ripped apart like this, but really, in the cold light of day my head says we were never really going to be able to muscle in on the " big boys" in the prem. Southampton is, after all,... Southampton.
I must admit, reading between the lines I think Reed thinks we can continue with a mainly youthful first team. It maybe my imagination but that's how I see how Reed is thinking.
