My experience was even worse at Secondary School. We were all given specific places in Maths, and mine was next to a heater and a window with no blinds, so every summer I'd have the Sun glaring in my eyes and the ****ing radiator burning me. As if that wasn't bad enough, the teacher was a miserable old Jock who forced us to wear our school jumpers. <grr>

From my extensive experience, people with storage heaters/ economy 7/ all electric tend to complain more about costs than people with gas central heating. They probably spend an extra 10% p.a. on energy.

Why don't you take the advice from the majority of posters on the Public Workers Strike thread and go get a new job if you don't like your current one <grr>

LR, why dont you suggest solar power to them, you get a grant from the Government of around £1500 for the next 10 years or so plus pretty good feed in tariffs just now. Almost guaranteed profit in 5 years. <ok>

he's buying a boiler that has the option to connect to solar panels, his wife doesnt like them but its wise to spend the extra money now so that they still have the option if he decides to go for it in the future <ok>

According to Frederick Herzberg, it's a hygiene factor. Once it's running satisfactorily, you should forget about it till it breaks down. It's shouldn't be a subject for debate.

There are 2 types of solar power though LR, pv and solar hot water. Velux supply hot water collectors which don't look much different to normal velux windows.

Pv provides eleectricity which can be sold back to the grid. Better grants are available for pv than solar hot water.

Herzberg is a moron. Elton Mayo and his theories are the way forward.
