I went down to my house for 8/9 days and didn't miss it ... but back at work this board gives me a welcome rest bite
Cant say ive noticed anything Stainey? nothing out of the usual ive seen TBH.... Paranoia setting in mate ...
I did I got the entire match sent to me by a mate .. outstanding as I honestly even thought we wouldn't make it after watching the match and that was after i knew the result We deserved some luck but watching it again and again Derby didn't make many chances and we rode our luck against Wigan ... all history now mate we are back and hopefully a lot wiser
I agree. I am not sure what McLaren was on about when he said they dominated from the whistle. The first half was very even. It was after the sending off that the game changed but even then they didn't exactly pepper our goal.
That's what triggered the first, and possibly last, time that I will completely agree with a post-match comment from Steve Claridge. He agreed with Manish that if you look at just the stats (possession, corners etc) then what we achieved was the archetypal smash-and-grab. If you look at actual chances created, then there really wasn't anything between the sides. When we went to 10 men, we really tightened up and allowed them the ball as long as they were 40 yards from goal. Any closer, they really had no space at all, and so all their chances were snatched shots or speculative crosses - most of which drifted long or were grabbed easily by Rob Green. Manful defending, allied with the hashtag mentalities of #weRtogether and #findaway, got us to the promised land, and at the end of the day, our determination and doggedness simply showed that when the hard yards needed to be put in, we just seemed to want it more.
Col and Swords for some handbags on the Commonwealth Games thread. Might be permanent for Swords, I think he was on a last warning.
Col's been banned good heavens All will return I am sure as both Nines and Roller excellent mods Lets be Frank ... Of course we use this board to exhaust ... I certainly do and of course at times I use this place to vent out poisonous gases put into me by the devil monkey Important to know we are a family on here so we should expect a few fall outs ... I can't control myself ... Tried to walk in a straight line through Sutton on Sat morning ... getting more and more impossible in the UK to do so: Families of four walk in sound of the music style as do the youth People on mobiles. People just stop and change direction It is a zombie world here now in the UK ... fly out tomorrow night to what is becoming more home to me
A pity, they were a couple of the best threads I've read on here for quite a while. Sure, some things were said but somehow it read to me like grandstanding and not loaded with invective. I learnt a bit too by reading them, for example Israelranger's input is a point of view (which is simply a view from a point, think 360 points!) we don't get to hear too often in this part of the world. Hope they'll all be back soon; not having any difficulty with the modding btw, a judgement had to be made and I fully understand that.
Not saying this is something I welcome, but the number of times Swords has been banned, he may well have used up all of his lives on here.
Geez, at this rate we will all be banned soon. I'm gutted that Col and Swords are banned, Col's match reports are always a top top read. Swords is like Marmite, some like, some hate, well I like Marmite.
Absolutely agree !! Enjoy both Col and Swords posts. Are we really that sensitive, that we cant stand a bit of banter. In particular with Col, I rarely if ever think his posts are even remotely close to controversial. Forthright - yes; controversial or abusive - NO !!
Just for the record I was in no way having a dig at our fine mod's Roller and Mr 9's. They are not only very good moderators but in the short time I'v been a member I have made friends with them both.
Me too, but only in small doses - like waving a red flag at the bull (even though they're apparently colour blind), Swords winds up fellow posters, goads & baits them into eventually (would you believe it) getting an angry response from them (perhaps his goal).
