What does that mean Dex, he wouldn't get a penalty? In that case it is definitely an insurance policy to ensure they get some prize money tomorrow if he doesn't get in the big one. Still not overly confident he can actually win tomorrow though.

Running in a flat race will not increase his hurdles mark Ron.

Not sure about that one Stick tbh..I'd imagine you'd lose it but down to your choice of layer I suppose...some may do the decent thing and NR no bet.

Ron,I agree they're just trying to get some cash tomorrow in case he misses the cut but tomorrows race is a big one in it's own right with a great tradition and would be a decent consolation.

Yeah and Sam Clements is a cracking rider who takes 5lb's off.

I remember him riding for the Tizzards and others over jumps a few years ago as a conditional until weight beat him...believe he has steered a Festival winner and not in an amateur riders event...Mildmay of Flete or the Grand Annual, can't quite remember which.

    Very underrated imo.

Good luck with Handsome Dan lads. Doesn't seen nailed on to me but if the yard are confident then I wish you luck.

In the Galway race, I quite like the chances of Spacious Sky at 33/1. The stablemate is a short priced fav but I don't think there's any mileage in it's price. Tony Martin's record at Galway is wonderful and I expect this horse has been aimed here for a long while.

    6.45 Galway

    Spacious Sky 33/1

First at ayr polarisation , battle ranger and scarlet bounty all look to have a great chance so much so I tried a small a/w tricast early doors and have just looked at the prices and I am glad I took them early on.
the second I have plumped for a r/f no 1 and 2 again well backed in .
    good luck all

The last couple of times J Fanning has gone up North has seen him win the first 2 or 3 races and I think he can go very close to winning the first 3 at Ayr today, but I have played a little safe. First 2 to win and the third to be placed.

    2.00 Polarisation 11/10
    2.30 Jinky 9/4
    3.00 Saxonette place Evs

Afternoon, comrades. Hope everyone well. Good, good.

Today has something of the ‘calm before the storm’ feel to it what with ‘Glorious’ Gooders just over 24 hours away and for that reason I’m prominently displaying the ‘no bet’ banner right now.

Re ‘Glorious’ Gooders it will be great to see Mr Henderson’s LIEUTENANT MILLER back on the track on Wednesday. He was unfortunate to have a shoe ripped off at Royal Ascot (the Lieutenant that is not Mr Henderson) and so under the circumstances ran quite well to finish as close as 7th. Given an easy couple of weeks following that mishap this has been the plan ever since. Ryan Moore retains the ride and off a pound lower than Ascot should go very close in a race the old boy finished runner-up in last term. The Lieutenant will relish both the ground and the extreme distance of the contest.

ATHENIAN ran well below par on Saturday going out like a light in the closing stages. Did she ‘bounce’ following her seasonal debut outing just 7 days previously??? One does, I say does, have to wonder. Whatever the case though that obviously wasn’t her true running. She holds 2 engagements at Gooders this week in a Group 3 on Friday and the ‘Stewards Cup’ on Saturday. Longer term the old rogue has also just put her in a Group 3 race for fillies and mares at Tipperary on 28 August.

The highlight at Gooders though could be a 2YO maiden set to run at the meet on Saturday. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more...

    Good luck all.

Probably notAttivoWise to put one up in the same races as you but here goes..... ...The bay gelding "Swn-y-Mor" Welsh meaning "Sound of the Sea", I know this as it is my mother tongue, has been in my tracker for the Ebor ever since his barn debut demolition job of a not too shabby field in a Class 3 Handicap off a perch of 83 at Chester 2 months ago. I have never in all my puff seen a horse travel & win a Class3 H'cap as easily, on the proverbial "bridle", would have won the race pulling a bus! Put up 14 pounds for that K.O. performance to a mark of 97, are the barn of John Quinn bring him on the 314 Mile journey over the pond just for the grazing! Previously trained by The stunning Rebecca Curtis <rose> he has been transferred to the Quinn yard along with a few others to have a tilt at big flat handicaps. Swnymor carries top weight of 12 Stone tonight giving his nearest rival 7 pounds and Jack 17 pounds, I feel there is summit fishy going on with the jockey booking, why is Mr JJ Codd on board yet to ride a winner on the flat Zero from 9 during past 5 years, has ridden 14 winners over the stick's, why didn't they book a claimer to reduce the weight? Do they think they don't need to reduce the weight to win tonight or are they just tuning him up for a tilt at Europes Richest Handicap and want to protect his handicap mark, don't know how today's race will effect the weights, currently set to carry 8-09 (Same weight as last years winner Tiger Cliff R.I.P. <peacedove>) with Jack off 8-00?

I have had a Good bet on Jack to win and a few YoYos E/W on Swnymor for this evenings race. I have also backed both on the exchanges for the Ebor, Jack @ 24/1 & The Sea @ 39/1 with the hope of laying off at shorter after tonight's race. Well that's the plan, I rest my case. <laugh>

    Good Luck <ok>

Sleep over a non runner at Windsor now. I will definitely watch out for her off of 65 whenever she runs however.

Now I know this is about as an unoriginal statement as you can get, but...... I think Richard Hughes could have a good night at Windsor tonight. I could see him having four from four or at least three from four.

I think the answer with regard Athenian is more simple in that the horse does not stay 7f. I think the venture at Newmarket was to test that water and it clearly does not as the horse travelled well but came under pressure in the final furlong and dropped like a stone. The week before however the strong ability to stay 6f fully saw him home. I think they will stick to 6f and there will be more come. Prior to this run the horse had been campaigned
purely at 5-6f. Thanks for keeping us informed.
