16:38 Sky Sports sc:- Here is the full story on Liverpool dropping their interest in Loic Remy. Sky Sports sources understand there was an issue with the medical and the Reds have now pulled the plug on a deal. The Frenchman, who spent last season on loan at Newcastle United from Queens Park Rangers, would have been Brendan Rodgers' fifth new summer recruit following the signings of Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Emre Can and Lazar Markovic.
Shall we write his script, "I'm delighted to be joining such a big club, playing in front of 52,000 screaming Geordies and pushing for a Champions League place."
Of course we would. He scores goals and we need a goal scorer. Just like you lads and borini, he's clearly holding out to see if something better comes along but if it doesn't and he signs for you then I imagine there won't be many complaints your end. Remy is a mercenary, but he's one that's good at his job. Still doubt we'll get him mind.
Except it is...both players have offers from our clubs, both players clearly would prefer to play at a higher level than what either of us can offer at the moment and are therefore waiting to see if anything better comes along. Regarding the medical failure, it's not stopped Remy having a decent career up until now, hasn't missed many games in the past and is proven at prem level so I don't see it as much of an issue.
Don't be daft man ..... Remy turned you down to go to the mighty QPR. He then left at the end of last season 'never to return' and will only come back if he can't find a better offer. You usually talk sense mate, I'm surprised you're trying to compare chalk with cheese.
i had you in a higher regard than this, remy has been knocked back by liverpool as in there medical opinion he should not be playing professional football at this level as it could kill him and you think its ok?
He turned down 50k a week for 80k a week because as stated he's a mercenary. He then chose champions league football over the aim of finishing top 10. Borini is choosing to warm the bench at a champions league club over being adored at Sunderland. If it was someone like Spurs or Everton that had bid 14m over a week ago he'd have been snapped with club shirt on and scarf held above his head. Nearly all footballers are mercenaries, you just have to hope that your club signs the ones that are decent at carrying out their jobs.
Of course not, he was another mercenary, but he did exactly what we needed him to do during his time at the club.
