A reply to the article on the AN site "Generally a good report about the proceedings but as one of the “West Stand Johns” I must point out that you do us a great mis-service by failing to accurately state why we made the comments we did. We were re-acting to a comment by Peter Gamble that the only thing that ALL SUPPORTERS were interested about at the moment in relation to the club was the name change. This is patently not true, you cannot bracket all supporters in this way as there are many views. As one of the John’s I don’t want a name change but it is not my number one factor in my support of the club or the Allam’s. To then predict that the next comment would have been “it’s his club etc” is unwarranted and incorrect. Report facts, yes, put words in people’s mouths, no. Comment by John Wilson — July 27, 2014 @ 5:44 pm Wonder if he will get a correction and apology? Not impressed with the list of attendee's and the west stand after some's name. How about ex Season pass holder for Andy?
The OSC has never been about representing the views oif the club as such, it's a social club with benefits as I understand it. It might take a slightly different tack if as has been suggested PLT is now a director of it, and that's fine, if that's what they want to do. Actually, I would hazard a guess and say that if PLT IS a director now, and that's a recent thing, the OSC might undergo some pretty good changes. Onwards and upwards and all that.
The KC will never be empty unless the away fans also agree to boycott the games. It is unlikely that the home sides will be completely empty, not impossible but unlikely. Same with the merchandise. The club has to consult the supporters, for example if they want to change the name. Where they don't they run the risk of not getting their way. So listening to a vocal minority is exactly what they have to do. Finally, a house divided stands a chance of falling down. Last season the off the pitch activities divided Hull City fans. Its his business, does he want that to continue for the next 3, 4, 5 or so years? We now face our difficult second season with the extra matches Europe bring. I don't think many City fans are expecting next season to be significantly more successful than this. Perhaps its time to remain Hull City and try and patch up the damage done last season. James Mooney has mouthed the right words but the mistrust will remain until it is matched by the actions of the owners. I may be stupid but I think we'll remain Hull City for a while yet. Handled properly we may see a new and better relationship between the club and the fans develop from this. I hope so. I care about our financial position because under Bartlett we nearly didn't have a club. I couldn't care less, under the Allams, about how much players cost. He'll make sure he can afford it before he signs the cheques.
I found PLTs write up of the event more trustworthy and honest than I did the AN one. PLT seemed cautiously impressed with the approach, suggestions and the future of these groups, whereas AN comes across as a snarky holier-than-thou write up. They've said they'll address the name confusion, but ultimately it doesn't matter what they say, haters gonna hate, and sadly, the internet gives them the "power" to do that, I find that quite sad. A house divided? Give me a break. I don't see Man U about to disappear. Despite all the crap they had with the fans v owners, they've still signed the biggest kit deal ever. No, we're not Man U, but as I see constant reference to other clubs, it's a valid comparison. The club IS listening to the fans, it is NOT however, letting that vocal minority dictate the pace, or method or the details of any change.
Thanks for posting the notes of the meeting Dan. Sounds like it was a good meeting where all groups had their say. Very helpful for us ex-pats to keep up with all the issues affecting the club. Hope these will be posted on a regular basis in the future.
I didn't see that much difference between PLT and AN's version. I didn't say Hull City would disappear, I said it would fall. Manchester United are not going to spend the next 5 seasons establishing themselves as a Premier League team. Given our finances and the lack of home grown talent we will be lucky to get anywhere near 7th never mind being the most successful football team in the history of the Premier League. Hull City require a period of consolidation to make the most of our current position. If he continues with trying to change the name the campaign against it will continue. That will affect everything surrounding the club. Haters will always hate, same as some people always put words in my mouth. I have no idea if the club is listening. I wasn't asked about being evicted, I wasn't asked about the badge, I wasn't asked about the name until he realised he needed to hold a vote, one meeting is a step in the right direction but it is only a step. One action is worth more than a thousand words. In 12 months time we'll know if its the beginning of a serious attempt to set up a proper dialogue between the club and the fans.
you said 30% down , PLT confirmed from the meeting and was surprised himself, only 900 down on last year ... not quite 30% is it ... from someone who works at the stadium ... maybe try not massaging stuff to suit your (CTWD) agenda .. I was impressed with PLT's write up yesterday and glad he found it informative .. despite his views he gave a "this is what it was" account and well done to that guy .. unlike some on here
The thing is , no matter how you dress it up .... your the "haters" and general opinion is now of the same away from the forums and downs the pubs and in public ... aside from the little "clique" .. the main thought is "shut the **** up you lot, we got Europe to enjoy" by the way ... where is the CTWD travel offer that people are waiting on that was promised some time ago for the game in four days time ???
You could ask them yourself. I didn't stand for the CTWD committee this year. As far as I know its all been sorted. I don't hate very many people, although I seem to have received quite a bit of abuse and hate from some posters on here over the past months. I was in a little clique after the Cardiff City match according to some people. I have no idea whether saying we should keep the name Hull City is a minority view but all he has to do to test it, is announce he's going to apply to the FA again. Personally I think that the last thing we need is another application, but only one man can make that decision and it isn't me.
A month ago we'd sold 8,000 season tickets, that figure was stated by James Mooney on Radio Humberside and was massively down on the 14,500 we'd sold by May 11th the previous year. The last I'd heard, a little over a week ago, we'd sold 13,000. If we've sold an additional 4,000 passes in the final week of sales, then well done to the club, but I've made nothing up, they were the numbers.
It was sent to all members the day the fixture was announced, the details of it have been posted and discussed on here, do try and keep up.
Just to clarify of the ticket sales, we've actually sold about 15,000, so we're still 15% down on last season. I'm not sure what the 900 figure is, maybe 900 down on where we were this time last year? It looks like we're going to use half season tickets to try and pull back some of the shortfall. The next fan group meeting is going to be next week.
I love how you move the goal posts to suit yourself. 6 months or so ago it was all how the name change nonsense doesn't affect the team, the protests don't affect what goes on the pitch. Now it will affect everyone. Which is it?
Have the committee looked into travel packages to potential destinations if we get through to the group? Just interested as to the sort of prices they came up with that we could be looking at for group games. I've had a very quick ganders at a couple of possible destinations and I came up with an average of about £100 per person excluding food costs.
We haven't yet, it's turned out to be more complicated than we expected. The airlines obviously watch the draw and double/treble the prices from airports local to the travelling club, which is why we ended up going from Heathrow(it's particularly difficult when you're going to somewhere like Zalina, which doesn't have an airport you can fly to directly and you've got to get a lot of people from one city to another at both ends). Other destinations will obviously be easier, but we'll probably just end up offering people packages with the Ulltras trip, as we've done this time.
Nothing remains the same. Last season the protests didn't affect the team but they helped persuade the FA to say no. If we have to protest again this season it will be a different form of protest. The campaign learned lessons from last season, the most important, if he has another go, is it wasn't enough. Hopefully Assem Allam has also learned some lessons. He may realise a united Tiger nation supporting Hull City is worth more than getting his own way and having us called Hull Tigers. I live in hope. One pint of guinness can be a nice change, 20 pints in an hour may make you sick. Nothing remains the same.
I'm saying what it says. If one tactic hasn't worked, you keep what's best about it and change what didn't work. Fairly straightforward stuff. Why do you assume any change in tactics would involve violence? This may say more about you then me.
