It's just a ****ed up conflict, fought by ****ed up Governments in a ****ed up region.

Just a real pity as always.....it's innocent people on BOTH sides who are getting ****ed up.

May they all rest in peace, whatever god or prophet they believe in.

What is given back? The Palestinian land of course. Palestine today is something like 9% the size of what it was pre 1967. The civilised world should insist that is the starting point for peace discussions.

Yes, the referral I made to your earlier post was meant more on a general level, not aimed at you in person. The point I was trying to make didn't come out quite like it was meant to, sorry if it felt like a snub.
I have been reading this forum for long enough to know that the vast majority of posters on this forum are very level-headed and sensible, and you are one of the posters whose comments I enjoy reading the most.

This is something that we can completely agree upon, I don't have the magic resolution that solves this question either. The one that sorts it out should get the Nobel Peace Prize for the following 100 years.

Nobel prizes all round but alas a very very sad situation...

For my 10 pence worth I think that the strong influence in the USA from first and second generation Israelis doesn't help things really.

 

I really dont see a permanent solution ever being agreed with the stated aim of Hamas to wipe Israel off the map (or words to that effect). A temporary peace may once again be achieved only for violence to break out again a short time down the road.

 

I very much doubt Hamas has the resources to wipe Israel off the map! Like a child throwing peanuts at an elephant then the elephant stamps on the child! Anyway a controversial and polarised subject so that's all from me!

 

If it were toys Hamas were throwing I dont think Israel would be stamping back!

This whole crisis really is very divisive ( as OP shows ) so lets all just have our opinions as lets face it no one will ultimately be right!

Conflicts around the world are always spun and served in favour of the west

Truth is the west wants conflict
It suits the west

Israel are very strong today and don't seem to care what the world thinks

We allowed that to happen and we have crushed any growth or threat from surrounding Arab nations

We should hold our heads in shame IMO
