BBC would be a British channel that you happen to receive.

As for the 'value' of having links with places like Rwanda and Mozambique, that would be cultural, social, diplomatic.......not everything is or should be driven by economic self interest.

That's a bit like saying that we should have no lower football leagues etc as they are not competing at the highest level. Should non-league sides not be given the chance to compete in the FA cup etc? I understand that you don't want to watch as it isn't the highest level of competition always, but there are quite a lot of World Champions on show mate.

Maybe the likes of Mozambique and Rwanda value having a relationship with Britain?

What flag would you be wrapped in Swords? Your union Jack? I am a proud Irish Nationalist and I get on great with foreign people of all races from all over the world. That doesn't make me anti any foreigners.

Case in point? Being an Irish Nationalist doesn't make me "anti foreigner". I have spent 20 years living in foreign countries. I speak a foreign language fluently (two if you count English). I have friends from all over the world of different races and nationalities. I love my country but I have a lot of respect for many other countries.

    HOW AM I ANTI-FOREIGNER????????????

Sorry Swords, those interested in athletics MAY be watching it. Those interested in boxing may be watching that too if it's on. Those interested in news, eastenders etc will also be watching what they choose to watch. The All-Ireland Hurling quarter finals are also on and I would suggest the vast majority of Irish people will be watching the hurley.

I, will not be watching the C.G.'s.

So being a "proud Irish nationalist" has nowt to do with your sneering at the games the lads were discussing and enjoying, which are taking place in the UK?

    I'd say its directly related.

Look mate, any time nationalism is involved, you'll find narrow-mindedness, bitterness and parochialism. There's contempt of others and as that other eejit repeatedly shows, tribal supremacism. Its the bane of human existence. (That and religion.) Its the last refuge of a scoundrel and a rallying call for the ignorant.

I've no doubt you and COL are sound fellas but yis aren't half a pair of backward-ass muppets at the same time :)

My point of view is MY POINT OF VIEW.

If you or the athletes competing (I am sure they don't read this forum) don't like it, TOUGH. I never meant to offend anybody but the reaction on here is way over the top from a number of people.

I have no desire to speak to Jessica Ennis or Chris Hoy or any other athletes.

Kiwi, yes, that is two thirds of the world who are not in the Commonwealth, ie. the vast majority.

That is totally untrue Swords. First of all, you don't know either Col or myself and are in no position to make such snide remarks about either of us.

My Great Grandfather was English Swords. I have many family and friends in the UK. I can be an Irish Nationalist and have respect for the UK. You are suggesting I am anti UK, and anti foreigner because I believe in a United Ireland. That is an extreme generalisation to make and I am surprised at you for making that.

Am I sneering at the games? Probably, because of the overall standard of the competition compared to an Olympics. I didn't start posting on this thread to upset anybody's enjoyment. If my opinions upset people well then I apologise. I didn't get personal with people in any way unlike the responses I received.

You and I are intensely proud of our respective Countries, yet I would say we get on very, very well. Especially when I kissed you at the final whistle at Wembley.

There's nothing wrong with being proud of your Country and patriotic. People like swords just can't get that. Like most on the left of politics, they immediately scream "racist" as soon as Patriotism is shown.

I think we've said this to eachother before Eamon..................I deeply respect anyone who is passionately patriotic about their own Country.

Listen to crybaby again. As usual you start something but can't hack it when the serve is returned.

You said this earlier: "I'm out of this before you and that other idiot accuse me of being racist again."

I didn't reply to that as I couldn't give a fiddlers. More power to you. Yet when I say something similar you respond with "You are a complete and utter w**ker"

You repeatedly illustrate that you can't cope with criticism on here. As the old saying goes, if you can't handle the heat get out of the kitchen.

I know, I predicted as much earlier:

BTW, show me where I've ever called anyone a racist on this Site, let alone you. Just one single sentence will do.

    Typical keyboard warrior.
Come over and actually watch the team you pretend to support and see if you have the nerve to say these things to my face.

You're like a five year old.

I think anyone who devalues the worth of the Commonwealth Games should have watched the medal ceremony for the 100m Para-Swimming Breaststroke. 13 year old Erraid Davies won the bronze for Scotland and money couldn't buy the pride she and the crowd there felt at that moment. It may not be World-beating stuff but it is a great achievement and exactly illustrates the value of the inclusiveness of these games.

As for comments regarding the lack of top quality, it's more the taking part and competitiveness that makes the games worth watching. Yes, some of the representatives are far short of world-class but many aren't and in the end so many of the sports have produced finishes worth watching. As Col says, people still watch non-league football even though it's not top quality, it's the competitiveness that is worth watching...

That's quite pathetic talking over the internet about meeting someone up for - presumably - a fight. And you call me childish?
You've already threatened violence on here before so I shouldn't be surprised. I'll be equally pathetic then and answer you: Any time, any place pal.

PS What are "these things" I've said to you that's got you fuming like a bloody lunatic? What the hell's the matter with you?
