I've just read in the Sunday Times (an increasingly dull and biased pile of crap that 30 years ago I would enjoy spending half my Sunday reading through and today I cover in 30 minutes) that there has been a huge spike in anti-Semitic attacks in Europe over the last few weeks - UK, France, Germany. Including a rabbi attacked in Gateshead of all places by 4 Muslim kids, neo Nazi abuse in Manchester, France and Germany as well as physical attacks, a synagogue in Northern Ireland (the only one) vandalised on consecutive days.

I hate this, will this ignorance never end?

As I say.............one-eyed anti Israeli, politically motivated bias.

There is fault on both sides.

Non-committed one line answers. Very easy.

You can repeat that line all day if you like but until you post up an actual argument, you can't be taken seriously. You asked me yesterday in another one-line response what my solution would be and I gave one - imperfect and all as it was. There was no response from you.

Tell me what's incorrect about the four points I made above?

Coouldn't agree more - just an excuse for scum to go round beating up jews and try to claim they're justifid in doing so. Half of them probably know no more about the crisis than I do about 16th century *****lian chamber music.

I might be one of the posters Col referred to as "Being anti Israel and maybe anti Jew" but I assure you that is not the case. I just don't think you can form an unbiased opinion if you only listen to one side of the story. I posted the links I did to show "the other side" of this conflict. I completely agree there is fault on both sides, but it seems to me that some of the pro-Israeli voices just can't accept it.

To Israelranger, I respect the way you have been discussing the matter, in a civil manner and not resorting to insults and such, as many do in discussions that can get quite heated on occasions. And I respect your opinion as much as any other. But I'd like to counter some of your points above.

"1. Jews have lived in Palestine continuously since the time of Jesus and before."

Yes, I'm sure they have, but so have the palestinians that are not Jews.

"2. Most of the Palestinian Arabs emigrated to Israel from surrounding Arab countries in the last 100 years because the Jews were providing employment and "making the desert bloom" For Swords to refer to "...foreigners ....from all four corners of the World (to) forcibly evict the people who have lived there for the intervening 2 or 3 millennia" is just plain nonsense."

Palestine had an non-Jewish majority from VI century up until early 1950's

"3. There has never been an independent Palestinian State on any part of the land. The area was controlled by Turkey until 1917 and by the British until 1948"

Was there ever an independent Jewish state before May 14th 1948?

"5. There are 1.5 million Palestinian Arabs now living in Israel with full rights, including voting rights, just like any other Israeli. There are Arab parties in the Israeli Parliament, and there are many Arabs who hold high positions, including High Court Judges. Swords reference to "apartheid" is totally abhorrent and inaccurate. Just ask any of my Arab neighbours who live close to me and are much happier living in the democratic State of Israel than any of the surrounding dictatorships!"

Wouldn't quite agree with that statement: http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-makdisi-israel-apartheid-20140518-story.html And the recent developenemt hasn't been too bright for them: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/netanyahus-jewish-statelaw-angers-arab-israelis-9319070.html
(i'm sure some posters will now brand latimes and independent as being biased)

As you see, there certainly is more than one side to this story, it is very hard to get the whole truth from anywhere. You just have to gather bits and pieces and construct you own "unbiased" opinion based on whatever you read/see/hear, but I for one will not form my opinion on solely based on what the main media outlets in the western world wants us to think.

For the final words (atleast for now) I just want to wish you well, and hope you stay safe in all this madness.

I want to thank everyone most sincerely for their good wishes for the safety of myself and my family-it is much appreciated.

Because I don't want this debate to sink to the level of insults, I do not intend to continue with my end of it.

I look forward to happier times for all of us.

    Up the R's!

I did say that I wasn't referring to anyone on here as "anti Jew" mate. That's a racist connotation that I would be very wary of accusing someone of unless I was 100% sure. I do think some anti-Israel comment on here is born out of a political stance by some.
I also have said that I think Israel should be "the adult" (for want of a better expression) and stop the slaughter. I deplore Israel's iron fist approach, but unless you are watching those rockets coming in-bound, on either side, it's hard to understand the emotions of it all. Not to mention the decades of hatred and resentment.
From the outside, a two state solution would seem to be the best solution, but as has been pointed out on here, there are so many factors at play and I don't pretend to be anywhere near knowledgeable enough on the subject to come up with the best way forward.

For now, a ceasefire that both sides can honour would be a humanitarian start.

The point I'm making is that you never, ever give the other side of the story. You are so entrenched in your anti-Israeli view point.

I have just posted above that I deplore the iron fist approach that Israel is deploying.
Will you renounce the outrages carried out by Hamas etc?

Israel pretty much makes all it's own weapons nowadays, with the exception of some of it's aircraft.

And believe it or not, hammas is making it's own rockets, they don't exactly look like the bright shiny things we'd expect rockets to look like, but they have become very skilled at the job.

    Gentleman <ok>

Of course, if we agree that Hamas' outrages (how many have they killed?) pale in comparison to Israels? 95% - 5% would be a rough body count figure so how about 95% - 5% culpability? Would you agree with that? Or does that make your "both sides" argument look a bit lopsided?

And would you also agree that it was the setting up of the settler State that initiated the conflict with (here's the red rag to a bull bit) a large share of the culpability for that lying at the British Government's door?

(EDIT: I'm definitely out of this thread now. Respect to everyone especially Israelranger)
